Alpine green? What about blue.....

Ah, that's the kernel of information I was looking for to help me decide.

Detroit blue it is.

Ive got to say, I think this is my favorite color I have seen so far for the block. Ive thought of the chevy orange...but when i think orange I think gasser. Not diesel at all. Just my opinion

Ill problably go with this color with my 95' as i think it will match the red truck exterior better than the green will. I think the engine color should work with the exterior theme as well.

Veg_out, im really liking the idea of painting the entire thing. Might look more factory? Ill be looking foreward to seeing that in the engine bay.

Thanks GW. Why don't you just steal my idea and blab it to everybody! I've had that same pic of a Series60 in my screen saver for a couple years now. And I plan to put a decal of some type on the valve covers, just as you described.(maybe the hood decal as some have done) I wanted to be the guy to do it and post pictures first so I was keeping my mouth shut. I also like the alpine green, but the orange is like finger nails on a chalkboard! From time to time I see newer 350's painted orange (ones that originally came from GM painted black) and I instantly discredit any work that might have been done to them. I had a bad experience once..... I'm anal about that kind of stuff. A local engine builder(a good one too) paints all his newer chevy engines black. And that's fine except he uses gloss black. The General painted them semi-gloss. It annoys me to the point that if I help my mechanic friend put one in, I go buy the correct paint, with my money, and repaint it. See, anal. But I can't explain why alpine green and series60 blue are OK in my book, and chevy orange isn't. None of those colors are stock so they should all be a no-go. I guess I'm just like a woman because I don't even know why it's that way. It just is.
If someone gets their's painted blue before I do, please post pics of it. Or don't and pretend like I beat you to it when I post my pics!

Nah, the whole "whoever's first" thing doesn't matter at all to me. Paint away...

Along that same line of thought, I have no problems posting my idea for the valve cover decal.

I was planning to take this:

And change it into this:

(that's a quick and dirty photochop, but you get the idea)

Cheers

OK, you got me on that one, GW. That badge idea is sweet! I'd buy a set for sure, price permitting! I think the badge should read 6.5L instead of TD6.5 just because I like to remind people what's under the hood and I don't want them confused. But to each his own. I'd still like to see your engine when you get it painted. I'm not too wound up about being the first. I just thought it might start a trend if it looked as good as I think it will.
