What is offered for older duallys? I know the Air Lift Roadmaster is only for newer ones.
With the fatiguing springs, it would be cool to just put an air ride on, not just replace the springs!

Why not just get the Firestone airbag helper springs? Seems like they would work great for that saggy butt.:biggrin5:

Hey there kansas boy Topeka here, as fo the airbag ride right makes a killer kit fo the older c/k body Generals, I don't use them personally but I will once I get home My truck has the camper springs on it which is basically a bigger overload and an extra spring in the pack.

Thanks for the replys. I gotta say, big block 88, cool truck there in your avatar! I'm thinking of a bradford bed, but may go with aluminum. Although, alum. may crack out w/ the harsh ride of 3500HD springs:D, I may be looking for a complete air ride kit for my HD as well!):h

It really depends on what you will be haulin with your old girl, I went with steel because the truck is 454 and is an HD rear end and springs in 88 though it was just the camper package, and the truck is for welding and heavy pulling. There are some nice alum beds out there but you will pay a pretty penny for them and I wasn't comfortable with the gooseneck and drop hitches and the way they conect to the bed, that bradford is awsome the only problem with them that I can see is rust, mine hasn't rusted yet but my two budies who have them do have rust on theres. One guy got his completely Line-X'd and it looks great. And they mount great to the GM frames weather you weld it or bolt it I did both for the weight that the truck sees.

I guess what we use them for, steel would be the best, but if we go outta state, the aluminum will help to keep the truck/trailer combo under 26K.:auto:

And, i doubt my truck will have enough grunt for a gooseneck. :D We just run big bumper pull ones. So, i'll probably have a big receiver, and possibly no gooseneck.

My half ton, if it gets a flatbed, it will almost surely need aluminum, as the V-6 needs all the help it can get! :rolleyes5:

If my old 454 can pull the loads that I pull with her I am sure a 6.5 TD can handle pretty close to the same

I don't know, maybe if i throw enough money at it! all kidding aside though, i just wanna keep up with everone else. Just need some power, not alot.

I can keep up with the oil burners for the most part just not on the high way those old chevy's are tougher than all the ones I garantee you that there isn't a new truck made by any of the big 3 right now that can take the punishment this old 88 has seen. They are just good old trucks, no leather no navigation just made to work and pull there hearts out I love my old chevy.

x2,
what ive done with my 1/2 ton, a newer rig's traction control or engine management would of interfered! (can somebody say 8K p-chassis Handicap city bus in a dirt lot?):auto::Chevy_anim:

You know, we've done a lot with our 05. Not to diss your trucks, but the LLY/allison is a stout package, and has handled everything we have ever thrown at it, without so much as a limp. Proud to say I've never limped it, and only buried it to the frame once. That was a long walk to get the tractor, though.

And we have done alot with our 2 D-max Alli trucks, but they are in a league all by themselves, my old 454 can give my LBZ and my sister LB7 a run for it's money, till we get to highway speed, I can out grunt our oil burners from 1st-3rd once I hit 4th gear, 4spd manual by the way, it is over and our diesel own it. I will be suprised if my sisters, mine and your dad's d-max will ever survive what I have put the old 454 through, it is just a tough old truck.

Well, it is nice, but i guess they don't make a C/K kit...oh well, gotta wait for a LB7/ZF6 to show up!

thanks for the link!

I wish! :) last one i saw that I wanted/had $ for was in southern NE w/ d-max/ZF6/ 2wd DRW ECLB layout. $6,750....w/35x,000 miles! :D

hella lot of miles, but hell, injectors and clutch/flywheel will go at much less miles, and that truck was driven for delivery purposes for some irrigation company. ran VIN and clutch and injectors were replaced at least twice.
