If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. Reading simone's thread on his rebuild and MGW with her's guess what I get to do again................. :wtf:

This time will be different though not gonna mess with TTY bolts it will be studs for me.

MGW: what name bramd head gaskets did you use? I remember you saying the felpro's squashed alot. That is what I used last time but now it's leaking again.

Not that I would be much help but let me know if you need a hand Joe, or someone to drink beer and watch

Ya Ace I could but this is the only thing I have that is street legal and (shhhhh) winter is coming, so with my plow contracts I can't take the chance.

Justin I might take you up on that.........

Just searched the Cometic gaskets (found it on here thanks for posting name MGW) HA HA they are 5 min from where I work. So just a little :auto:

The onlyn thing to keep in mind though is that the cometic gaskets require a very clean, smooth surface to work right. Make sure you dont have errosion around where the gasket fire rings sit on the fron two cyl's.

If there is any appreciable errosion the block must be decked.

Are you sure the coolant is leaking out past a head gasket.

Overall the Felpro gaskets are the Gold standard for the 6.2/6.5 engines. The Victors suck.

Best

Anything but Victor Reinz, they are terrible. Aces has a good point on the cooling tabs, -you really don't have anything to lose by trying.

Thanks RATMAN I thought so. Just nice to be able to blame someone else if they don't work.):h

Sorry to hear about your problem. The tabs didn't work for me but can't hurt to try them.

Why are the studs better then bolts?

Studs are really no better than bolts if the bolts are installed correctly.

Now this said, the studs can be reused and the bolts can't.

As far as overall reliability the bolts work fine as long as the heads and block are flat and the gaskets used are top quality.

For a 6.5 application the bolts will work just sweet as long as they are installed using the instructions that come with the bolts and follow the torqueing chart.

Now for race applications the studs do have the ability to be used again and again.

Hope this makes it all clear.
