AC kicks out for 5 plus min and then starts working again.

i went to the jy to get hoses for the 93. one of them suffered an abrasion rubbing the core support. paid 25.00 for the single and double hose. i have some R12 from canada, the environmentally safe kind but runs at the same pressures as the old. can't find it here. next weekend i will replace hoses and see what i get. put the drier in silica crystals to get out the moisture because i didn't want to spend any more money if the whole system is junk.
there has been some helpful info in this post.

Specific to hoses... 1993 is a 20 year old hose. 200 PSI off both hoses and 450 PSI in operation. It can flash frost bite burn you. The system oil is nasty to eyes as well. Wear goggles.

Some AC shops can replace the hose section of the hose set for around $100. New, if you can get them, is about the same price. Diesel hoses are a little rare and just different enough.

There are a lot of other, better, threads on AC on here that have more than beat a dead horse info in them.

Come to think of it the AC has been trouble free since this summer. When the truck is running that is... :agreed:

If you can find hydraulic shops, they can make the high pressure hoses.

The low pressure switch is located on the dryer which is next to the turbo.
Not the best location in terms of heat. That may explain why it goes bad often.
At >100F here in TX, nothing works even with a good working AC.

I replaced my dad's suburban with LP switch from AZ, seems to work fine.
We will see how long it last.
