I was under the hood of my 6.5 and found a bonus the PO added a racor r45s oil prefilter setup before the FFM. I guess he must have cared for this vehicle. Who knows what else I will find. I'm currently adding tow mirrors like 88gmctruck put on his truck. The mirrors look better than stock. It's raining so the passenger will have to wait. I also got one of the overhead consoles from 88gmctruck and I'm installing it as well.

Yeah it's funny I have a full size garage and a 12 x 20 workshop and I'm working outside in my driveway and complaining about the rain. The reason I can't get into the garage at the moment is I'm doing some renos in the house so the garage is a laydown area and storage. Anyway I finished a couple of more things on the truck today.

Nice....Any pics of that overhead console install.....Are those the tow mirrors (Brand?) from 88GMC?

Pics of the install it's pretty straightforward I used a carpet knife to cut the headliner where the clips are. In the EC the holes for the console line up perfectly. Another cut up front and a clip to secure it. I used an anchor bolt as there is a hole to put it in. I wired the power from the existing cab light. The mirrors are e-bay cosmodynamic power and signal 228.00 I think Burning Oil has the same deal not sure on his prices he has a thread going on here.

How do you know where to cut the Head liner......Or did you pull it down?

What I did was the centre the console between the visors there is a natural hump down the head-liner it fits there really nice. Then I just pressed the console against the head-liner it left indents where the clips go. Then I just cut small hole to explore a bit. Use a sharp knife new blade will help I ended up cutting a 1" x 4"for the clips in the back and about 1" x 1" for the clip up front. I never pulled the head-liner down.

Jesus it's raining here again I think we skipped summer and went straight to winter again. I can't work on the truck in this weather I guess I can work on the renos.

I wish my regular cab was that easy....It seems all the ex cab trucks had cutouts in the cab metal for the overhead console.

Same here, regular cab......So the install wont be the same, I guess?

Extended cab roof is double layer most of the way back. Regular cab is single layer. I think David did a install on a regular cab in the interior section.

I did mine this winter...also in the projects section. I chose just to use the headliner as the support rather than make holes into the cab metal. Not as strong obviously, but how much weight are you really going to be putting up there?

Actually I was thinking of gluing some steel there to hold it. The glue now days will hold anything to anything.
