97+ Air Filter Housing

I just bought one of these last week, and i took the fender mount funnel peice off of mine, was I smart to do that, or am I hurting my "performance" doing that? I know Im told to remove the fender snorkel and I figure this would unhook it from their easier than fishing the snorkel out...(PS got mine for $42 and picked it up it was 10 miles from me! and it was COMPLETE!!!!)

Spend the extra time to take out the snorkle in the fender. If I am reading your post correctly, all you have done is disconect the airbox from the fender inlet correct? If that is the case, you are still limiting the intake to the hot under hood air. There are detailed threads about removing the snorkle on here somewhere, but it really isnt that dificult. Just remove the bolts from inside the fender that hold it on, and then pull it through the hole by the air box.

As for the K47 option...so long as you buy an airbox assembly from a 97' or newer, it shouldnt matter. K47 or not, they will both be the round filter style. Now i have never seen the two side by side, but what i can gather is that the high capacity option has only a slightly larger filter housing.

I paid $65+ shipping for mine.

Adding to the above, get a hair dryer and get the snorkel hot. It bends easier to get out. Also there is a single plastic rivet inside the tube - look through where the air filter was to see it.

You might get a better price on a K47 if you just buy the box and fender duct. Then do the street ell mod using the 92-96 rubber elbow. I found a junk yard that only had those pieces and he sold cheap because he did not have a complete set up.
