Hey guys, it's time to pitch in a bit...

You may have noticed I went through and cleaned up the reference thread a little this afternoon; the impetus was the fact that knkreb wrote and posted a couple of articles - "Reference Material: Turbo/Wastegate system" and "Reference material: Lift Pump/OPS"

I would dearly love to continue updating and growing this reference section, because we have an incredible knowledge base on the 6.5TD (that would be you guys) that can really help out our fellow 6.5TD enthusiasts.

The best part about starting this one from scratch, is that we can make it clean, focused, and easy to navigate... if you get some time, and you have something you want to share with everyone (like a new modification, especially with pictures), make up a nice, clean post about it and bring it to our attention by posting in the 6.5 Diesel Technical Library sticky.

We'll make sure it gets to the right place!
I'm have an issue with a 1997 6.5 td. Starts easy runs smooth. After a few minutes it dies. Will restart a few minutes later.Computer tells me timing out of range . Is this pdm issues or pump?

If you have a spare pmd try that first. There's also a way to test the pump but I can't remember the exact procedure. I would also try and start a new thread with your issue. Easier to keep all the information in one area and it doesn't clutter this thread. [emoji51]

Welcome to the Forum Richard, this thread is a Sticky used for reference. Try starting a new thread. Most likely PMD by the way.

No problem. Ferm made a thread for you. Everyone will try to help the best they can around here. [emoji3] there's some super smart people. I'm still pretty new and always learning something new. Have you relocated the pmd to the bumper yet?

Old was relocated by the bumper when I got the truck but no heat sink.Im thinking it' getting hot but I know very little about electronic injector pump.

Definitely start with a new one then. They are usually the culprit. Also go through your grounds and clean those up. These trucks need very good grounds. Go to leroydiesel.com. he can get you a new one. I have his flight systems in my bumper. Also check the extension harness for the pmd. If it was a cheap one they aren't near as good of quality.

The resistor is in the old pmd where the cable connects. Make sure to Take it out of the old one and put it in the new pmd.
