@Husker6.5 - Powermaster or it doesn't matter anymore. The local rebuild shops get the Red Communist China solenoids now and they are junk. Spin 3 of 4 times. Maybe one can ask the local rebuild shop for something else.
@drapermotorsports This is a 10HP starter that makes more torque than your lug nuts can take. Apparently it would have put GM into bankruptcy to use a 3 bolt starter mount like other diesels and something aside of a "Like A SNAP!" cast crankshaft. Regardless you can't depend on any repair to the block starter ear: when it breaks free again it's costing you the job and money.
You now have a parts engine and a scrap block. These are throwaway engines as it is. Is the truck worth an $8,000 NEW Optimizer 6.5 engine? Used engines are a gamble, likely need a rebuild IF they ain't cracked to scrap, and will cost nearly as much as a NEW Improved Optimizer engine. Yes, they still make new 6.5 long block engines.
I looked at a 6.5 HD tow truck at one time and the frame was cracked: even the repair was cracked. One think to look hard at before doing a lot of work to this HD truck.
Budget problems? Shove a 454 in it or other gas crate engine in. Again this truck is your paycheck. Bluntly I have lost a few paychecks getting used 6.5 and 6.2 GM diesels to do real work and all they did is show me what scrap metal and red ink looked like. I bleed GM orange, but, now I drive a Cummins Diesel in a Dodge wrapper for a reason! Part of my recovery anyway... (And I blew up the Cummins a few times as well...)
Yes, they do make a different starter for manual transmission trucks having to do with a different nose cone opening. It's my understanding the Powermaster fits both. Call Powermaster to confirm.

Is there a difference between auto and manuel starters?
