96 timing issue possibly

what am I missing or am I going to have to loosen the power steering pump to get this outView attachment 93694
You can get it out from the back. It has a bracket around the CPS. Bracket attaches to the block with one bolt. With age the plastic can soften and the bracket can detach. I would pry under the bracket while pulling the wires. If the bracket comes off, then just grab the CPS with whatever vice grip you can get in there and twist it back and forth to get out.

I got it loose from the block but was hitting the power steering pump before it came all the way out.

I can't remember if I had to pull the PS pump off when I installed the one on the 93. it uses that sensor for the TCI TCU. I bet you can get away with pulling the two bolts, one on the water pump and the other on the exhaust so the PS will swing out slightly.

I thought about loosing the accessory bracket was trying to remember how it all came apart

iirc there are three bolts or two bolts and one stud holding the bracket in place. the stud is on the WP, should be a bolt on the exhaust manifold or near it, and one more up top under the alternator that holds the PS bracket to the block.

I thought if ever I would need to again replace the CPS on My truck, I’d take the die grinder and remove enough metal from the PS plump bracket thst the CPS could just be dropped on outta there.
It appears to be such a small amount that I doubt it would weaken the bracket.
I might be wrong so please tell me so if I am.

mine is not hitting the bracket. it's hitting the reservoir for the power steering pump

One of those PS pump pulley removal puller kits from the parts house is not a lot of money. Can rent one from one of the big box parts stores too.
Just be sure You make note of how far on the PS pump shaft that the pulley resides.
Then getting to all the bolts is quite easy.
