95 K1500 starter run away.

If the starter is good then there is other problems.

My suggestion is to DO the diagnostic list. The FSD on intake is also a culprit in addition to LP/OPS.
 
I got the old starter that was on it before and installed it and now everything works fine. I did some measuring on the nose of the old one and the rebuilt starter and I think if i would use a thicker shim with the rebuilt starter it would be ok. But I still don't understand why the engine would not even try to start when the starter hung, it starts very easy. Thanks for your help.
 
Well I talked to soon !!!! I started it about a dozen times and everything went well. A few min ago I started it and let it run for about 5 min and it died after that when you hit the starter it hangs until you remove the battery cable. I tried it 3 times always hangs and keeps the engine turning and wont attempt to start. I checked the codes with the paper clip method and get only a 58 no 12 at the start.
