Ramona ok.
Hello new here. I'm in need of help I have a 95 Chevy 6.5 diesel. I'm having lots of trouble with any help thank you. Ok heres the problem. The truck didn't want to start cranks great I put a pick up pump in it and fuel relay. Got fuel to ip still no start up changed control mod . Then found I had no fuel to injectors. Was told ip was bad. So put a used ip on off a running engine. Still no start checked all fuses I do have power to ECM on ip power on pink wire no others. And I think there's got to get power to the wire running to rear of pump by the injector lines of I fun a power wire to it the truck will fire right up. BUT the truck runs wide open and will not go to idle it runs up to 4000 rpm in about 5sec and then I shut it down in fear of it going boom lol. I really need help only thing I have to drive

By control mod do you mean pmd? The wire at the rear of the IP, is it the harness that connects to the pmd? Don't jump power to that, I believe it is only a 5v source from the ecm.

Clean all the grounds, battery and ground straps. there are 2 or 3 on the trans dip stick that need to be clean. Also check the ecm and the fsos fuses in the engine bay fuse box. Shine the fuse spades up with fine sand paper.

The "ECM" on the side of the IP is the pmd, is the one on the remote mount a new one? Is it mounted on the intake? If it's on the intake it should be moved outside the engine bay. Inside the bumper nostrils is a good place. They can fail quite quickly on the intake.

ECM is the engine control module just to keep things clear, aka computer.

Hello guys thank you. I'm at my wits in here. Yes I've put three different PCM on it one new one off running truck and the old one. All of them are doing the same. I did put a 5volt power source to the back of ip and it started and ran but ran at wide open. Does the piece on rear of ip run the throttle sorry don't know what it's called

this is not real. post say zero, keep calling it pcm after being told it's a pmd, what's up?

Ok Pdm has been changed three times.

I've put a pickup pump three
PCM and a injection pump furl relay and crank sensor And still wond start and run

The computer (ecm) controls the pmd. Putting 5v direct to the armature at the back of the IP is likely sending it a signal to go wot. You have taken ecm control away.

Check all the wires and connections, ohm out the wires.

Ok so that's why it starts at wot this is the only problem I haven't been able to take care of. I'll the wiring on pumps good there's no power getting to the Pdm on back of ip. And every control mod I put on still don't get power to it there's four wires running to the ip wiring and only one gets hot and only one gets hot at control mod

Welcome to TTS.

Just to confirm the the part on IP is called a PMD. Its the black or grey electrical box that is connected via a 6pin harness coming from the IP. Yours might be remote mounted so follow the cable to the PMD.
You are saying that you changed it 3 times? right? If not try a new one as suggested.

Yes I have changed it three times And yes it was relocated to top of intake from ssdiesel I know it's a fuel problem but don't know if it's a wire that's bad or if I got three bad pcm's one was on the truck it's more than Likely bad the other was off running truck that came with ip And other was new from oreilys Do you or anyone know if there's only one power wire to pump harness that's hot And is the red wire to back of pump hot all the time or does that wire pulse Reason I'm asking is if I put 5volts to it. The truck runs. Wot Thank you all for help.

Sure sounds like a PMD. Also to help you better try to stay consistant with your teminology, its a PMD not PCM. Im not sure of the pin out, but buddy did post it somewhere, try a search or maybe someone has the link.

Maybe PassLock on the 2 "New PCM's......Or the PCM's are from a different year, or F to S engine.......Lotta If's here.

You need a Flashed to your VIN PCM first....... to start with, then I'd move on to the IP....

Are you getting a WTS light during "Key On"?

Yes getting wait to start light. And didn't know about getting the PCM flashed. How do you do that the new ones they didn't tell me I needed them flashed. Do I need to get a code reader to flash them or is there a way to do it with out Sorry if some words are misspelled or if somethings call something different me IPhone changes word at times

We need to keep this clear or there will be misunderstanding.

PMD= pump mounted driver

FSD= fuel solenoid driver, the same as PMD just the term used when it is remote mounted.

ECM= engine control module (computer)

PCM= powertrain control module (used to control 4L80e trans) in pre electronic fuel systems.

If you have changed the pmd/fsd you don't need a flash for the passlock system.

oh Passlock= anti theft.

No passlock on a 95

Ok yes the pmd was changed three times to three different pmd's. The ip was changed the fuel pump on frame rail was changed and the fuel relay was changed and I changed the crank sensor was changed. I did check the wiring on pump from pmd To the wiring harness plug and from the pmd to the back of pump I don't know what it's called but it's the switch that's between all the injector fuel lines I did check to see if I was getting power to pmd and I'm getting power to it But I'm not getting any power at all to the switch on rear of pump between the fuel lines Ok I hope I got everything straight now we can go further. I'm to the point a rag in fuel tank would give me a lot of relief Just joking you all have probably been there. The only thing I can see is I have three bad pmd[U

Is there any place that I can take the pmd's to get them tested. And can the pmd go out that easy that if I took it out of running truck and installed it in mine that it could make it go bad. I'm not that up on them it's a newer truck than I had before I'm used to working on the older diesels that's not computer controlled You know the old school diesel. I love them wish now I had it back
