I checked the 3 vendors can't find that info..........The info has been here for a while, look in the vendor section...
That's funny, their is a vendor here that has already produced a hyd clutch for this motor.. has it's own stand alone controller, free wheels, works with AC, tuneable kick on temp, etc. uses a humvee fan (well mine does)..
Since many of these Flair motor-homes are often re-powered this idea may have commercial value too...Yes, now you all are "getting it"! A divorced hydraulically driven fan (like on some Bobcat skid steers), NOT a fan clutch, so that there isn't that Rube Goldberg contraption of the extended length crank pulley and long-ass belt that puts all sorts of excessive lateral force on the crank snout, front main bearing, balancer, etc.
Put an adjustable temperature thermostatic switch somewhere in the cooling system to control a 12V electromagnetic clutch on the pump pulley to turn the hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic fan motor on and off and there you have it! One could even use the existing bracketry for the belt driven fan, with some modification, to bolt the hydraulic motor for the fan to. A 1.5 - 2.5 in3 displacement pump should give you about 11 gal/min flow at 2500 psi at 3600 rpm (1800 6.5TD crank rpm) iirc my hydraulics tables from when I built my own log splitter. That should be MORE than enough to drive a hydraulic motor with sufficient rpm and torque to turn a Duramax fan (or larger) directly attached. All the parts, 12V clutch, pump motor, fittings, etc are available pretty cheap from Surplus Center.
The trouble with this is the high cost, here it would be North of 2k$ Canadian with the pump and a mount kit, unless you build your own. Looking under the hood of some of the newer vehicles makes the 1k$+ of a mount kit look cheap. When I put a deck on a 6.7 Cummins the kit was $1400 to my door, dollars were on par. Was about an 6-8 hr job to mount the kit, what a MoFo.I like Leo's idea, use the hyd. system for a bale bed equipped 6.5L. I am sure any bale bed make like Besler, Cannonball, Deweze, etc. can figure out what you need. Find room for a reservoir, and a cooler setup, and good to go!
I would imagine you could just control it with the electric clutch on the pump, run the lines direct to the hyd. motor, might get all fancy with a variable valve so you can control id you want it slow, or fast.
