93 and older question.

Thanks, Midnite.

Ultimately I'd like to rewire my truck altogether to make it simpler. I'm hoping to find a Cruise control module and setup from another rig. I've heard that a gasser CCM would work? Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

I could care less if the services engine light and the throttle light work. I'll have gauges for everything (like a diesel SHOULD have) so I can monitor the motor that way.

93 FSM says

Well i decided to have a look at the '93 FSM and see what it says. I scanned 2 pages, first for all '93 diesels and second for '93 with manual tranny. I would attach these, but the scans exceed the file limit size. Seems pretty clear i was mistaken on some points (not alone there though) lol If you want to see these, pm me and i'll email it to ya.

Control Module Description: PG 6E2-10, FSM X-9331
ECM controls the following:
1. EGR - S Vin
2. EPR - S Vin
3. System Diagnosis
4. Cold Advance and Glow Plugs
ECM Monitors the following:
1. Engine RPM
2. MAP sensor - used to monitor Vacumn for EGR - S Vin
3. TPS
4. VSS
5. ECT

Wish I could figure out how to scan these pages in a smaller file.

Just scan them the put them on someplace like Flikr or Photobucket. You can add a link here for those images.

They didn't make "S" vin that I'm aware of in 93(maybe cali), only the vin "F" 6.5 and vin "J" or "C" 6.2's.

1993 TCM(transmission control module) pinouts,

I think what they referred to as S Vin was California with emissions. My books cover all emissions but at times don't seperate. You should be ok if you do a manual glow/cold advance circuit, not sure about the VSS as my manual lists that as ECM input.

I guess in the worst case, if I need to have the ECM for the VSSB, I can just severe the connection to the ECM on everything but the VSSB.

Jake, your '94 ECM controls the glow relay by using data acquired from the CTS, -which in my opinion, is a painless way to run your glows.

I left mine intact when I did my DB2, and it works flawlessly.

I'm all for ripping the ECM out, -but you may want to reconsider since the ECM does do a fine job of running the glow circuit.

The only thing that does NOT function correctly is afterglow, -which always worked flawlessly when the DS pump and harness was intact. With half of the plugs disconnected on my ECM, afterglow does not currently work, -but it's not really that big of a deal, -even with 18:1.
