6.5 with no fuel to injectors

There are the little screens inside the IP fuel inlet fitting, the lower half of it. there is one large screen around the whole thing and then on the very tip. Old fuel with some bugs could have clogged them up. And I assume youve already checked for fuel pressure at the inlet while cranking. Checking at the drain hose is pre filter and "last ditch" screen inside the fuel filter manager, either could be clogged.

Did the PO use bio diesel or veggie oil? Could be contaminated, you should take a sample and see what it looks like in a glass jar. See what kind of crud might settle at the bottom. The OS might get a film over it and make matters worse, but sounds like its picking up the timing, better so when the CPS is unplugged.

I am hoping you do get codes with the sensors unplugged that can tell you if the other one is working. So its good to verify you got the CPS code when its unplugged and you get the OS codes when its unplugged.

I was out of down for a long weekend.

I took the screen out of the ip and there white chunks in it that covered about half and looked like soft paint chips. i drained all the old fuel out of the tank cuz it smells really bad, and put fresh in. still no luck, i tryed starting fluid with the glow plugs unhooked and it seemed to help a bit but it still doesnt want to fire up. when i have the glow plugs hooked up it seems to sound like the cyls are firing a little bit more the longer i crank it but i dont want to burn up my starter

Im lost buddy

Did you try it with the CPS unplugged again?

Check to make sure that 1.2VAC is on the line coming out of pin B of the PMD while cranking. If it is and youre not injecting then there is a problem with the IP. If not then there is a PCM electronics issue.

If there is debris at the IP inlet, you may need to check the fuel filter and anywhere upstream?
The filter should filter them out, if not, you have another problem.

May also want to take out the fuel filter bowl aka FFM to clean them out.
Make sure all the hoses are not clogged or change them anyway.
LP will not survive with a lot of debris also.

Check out WarWagon thread on the life organism.
It was a nightmare to clean.

i still have 1.15-1.45VAC at pin b on the pmd.

all of the lines seem clear there really isnt anything at the bottom of the filter housing

the guy that i bought the truck from said it was running good untill it locked up(some one didnt torque a rod cap) but i guess with everything else being shot on the engine it shouldnt suprise me that the ip would be smoked too

I guess its time to try a new ip

Thanks guys

Well, since there was trash in the screen, some may have gone through into the IP as well. Since youre getting the inject signals, then the IP must be the issue. Either the Shutoff Solenoid isnt staying up or there is an internal issue. A healthy IP fuel solenoid should measure about 0.4 ohms resistance through it, pins B and F on the PMD harness. Although even if thats alright electrically the moving parts could be worn or something clogged inside.

That or some serious air intrusion in the fuel lines would keep it from running.

Isnt it possible to remove the fuel shutoff solenoid, and find a threaded endcap to mount in the hole ?

Yes, each of the FSO solenoids I have uses a snap ring inside the cylinder to hold the plunger in. Those are the FSO solenoids with hex heads on top, but a member mentioned to me that his solenoid with the inverted hex allen top did not have a snap ring and no way for it to fall out.

Or you could just find a plug large enough for the hole. Or cut the tip off of the plunger.

I had .2 ohms thru my solenoid.

I pulled my ip off my running( cracked head or block) 97 k2500, i still have a couple lines to bleed out still but so far no change so far

Congrats, always a good feeling to get it running.

was that 0.2 ohms through the PMD harness pins B and F or straight through the leads on the end after you took it apart. And how about the one that is running, can you measure it?

yea, after i swapped the ip it started up

On obd 1 trucks to you have to go into the computer to set injection timing like obd 2?
if not do i have to adjust my ip at all?

Yes IP timing has to be done through the ECM and must be done with a bi-directional scan tool like a tech 1 or GMTD scantech.

A tech II with the OBD1 add on module would work also.
