I have been wanting to post a video of my truck accelerating for awhile. All the other vids posted lately inspired me to post these. Sorry about the quality but driving and taking a video is not easy. I think she runs good for a stock turboed truck and after the Gerdy incident :rolleyes5: I only ran her at 3/4 throttle shifting around 3 grand. The truck is the 95 listed below. The first video is short. The second is longer.. got hung behind a tractor trailer near the end I was able to open her up.

Thanks. By my informal count 0-60 in around 9secs, maybe high 8s. It is amazing compared to how it ran and pulled when I first bought it.

Which '95 are you referring to? You have a few in your signiture lol. Are those 3.42 gears?

Yeah I have a couple of 95s... :D The truck in the video is the 95 Chevy with the GM-5 and a Heath turbomaster. She has 3.42s and 235/75/R16 tires. Turns the same rpms as our 02 Suburban with 3.73s and 245/75/R16 tires. I try to roll in the throttle as I am worried that the gov-bomb in the 10 bolt will go boom. She is a handful in the rain. You either have to feather the throttle or lightly roll in and be ready to dial in opposite lock... gotten her sideways more than once. She even broke traction in the rain with a 4000lb trailer and 500lbs in the bed. When the gov bomb grabbed I thought I had ripped the rear out! I have another video of her chirping a tire on the 1st to 2nd shift on dry pavement. I had to max the volume on the computer but I can hear it and I remember hearing it. I did not post this video earlier because the camera lost the instrument cluster at the end.

I know there are faster more powerful trucks out there and I know there is more power yet to had but she is a blast to drive! :) I have thought about swapping the ATT on for few just to see how she would feel with a bigger turbo. The ATT is looking lonely in the corner of the garage while its motor gets a redo. :D

I'm shocked that only has a 10 bolt rear. The 10 bolt blew in my 305 truck so I put in a 14semi float from a light duty 2500.

As far as I know the only 5 lug (2wd 1500) semi-float gm ever used in a truck was in the 454 ss. I thought all 6 lug 6.5s were atleast semi float. It is an odd truck. A 1500 2wd turbo diesel with a 4l80e and a 10 bolt. I am planning on doing a frame swap in the next few months to a 2500 8lug frame.

Looked/sounded so effortless

I give alot of credit to the Heath tune/ turbomaster combo and the fact she is so light... only about 5100 with me and diesel aboard. I have been putting off the frame swap for awhile... she runs too good to take down. I need to though. I am tired of the trailer chains dragging the ground and last time I towed 8k I could feel the trailer pushing on those dinky 1/2 ton springs.

cool video!

why would you want to go through all the trouble of a frame swap? your top two trucks in your signature look tow ready. if you want a C2500HD I guess I would sell out of my 95 chevy RCLB 6.5L auto 2wd, or I am sure you can find one out there.

C1500 diesels are rare, no need to thin the herd even more IMO.

I do not really want to do a frame swap. There are a couple of reasons why I feel compelled. The truck is a company truck. I own my own construction company and it is for business use, titled in the company name and insured by a commercial policy. I started the mods to help it pull my enclosed 6x12 trailer. I wanted a 3/4 ton but good luck finding one. For me I do not like obd II, daytime running lights, or the passenger air bag dog house. Do not really care to own a GM oil squirter block either. That eliminates 96-2000. I prefer the newer style interior and electronic injection. That leaves 95 as the preferred year with 92-94 as second choice. Do not really want or need an extended cab or a crew cab. Do not want or really need 4 wheel drive for daily use. Around here reg cab trucks that are not totally ragged with a 6.5 are almost impossible to find. Throw in the other conditions and finding a truck is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. In the course of looking the last three years if you include the two trucks (the 95 GMC NA and the 95 Chevy) I own and half tons I can count on one hand the trucks I have found that meet most of the above qualifications. Seems like they are getting harder to find and the price is going up. Even if you throw out the year requirement I have not turned up much. It seems like farmers, contractors, and fleet operators ragged out most of the reg cabs. Then you throw in the fact that everyone is buying crew cabs and extended cabs so that is what GM shifted production to favor that you have a dying breed. Ever try to park a crew cab 8' box truck in the city? Plus all the extra weight kills fuel economy and increases strain on drivetrain components. So that is why I am a reg cab guy. With the death of our Suburban every vehicle we own is a reg cab GM truck. So in a nutshell that is were I am at. If I could afford to make the truck a personal use truck and find a 3/4 ton in decent shape then I would keep it 1/2 ton. Unfortunately for the 95 Chevy my personal truck is a 69 Chevy pickup. That is the toy. So that is were I am at... sometimes not totally happy about taking a sorta rare truck under the knife but I have run out of options.

how difficult is the process to sell the company truck to yourself and sell your 95 K2500HD to your business?

are you against 5 speeds? I know of a 100,000 mile 94 C3500 SRW RCLB that I am trying to hoard for myself, but they want 4500, so I am not game at that price. :)

Wow. That is a decent price. Around here they have gone sky high. I paid $5800 for the 95 Chevy. There was a 94 1500 Reg Cab 2wd asking price was almost $8k. I have seen two or three ext cabs or crew cabs were they were asking over $10k. $3-4K around here buys you a truck with mechanical problems, ragged out interior, and some exterior battle damage. Have driven as far as Maryland ( almost 3hrs ) and looked at a 94 5spd srw 2wd 3500 ext cab. The truck had a pmd bolted to the inner fender with a gum wrapper to keep it from rubbing on the master cylinder and the front brake was locked up. He wanted over $3k for it. The utility body had rust holes in the compartments big enough to stick my head in. In my world that is a $1000 on a good day if I did not mind a headache or two. I did not even make him an offer.

The K2500 is our Suburban replacement so while I can use it for business I would prefer not too. Since we do travel in winter ( wifes family is in western upstate NY ) and we do pull hay off of the field 4wd is nice in our personal vehicle.

I have considered the NA 95 GMC as a possible body donor for the frame but she is a rare tuck as well. And there is the issue of putting a turbo on it. Easy enough but still extra cost and work.

I have some thoughts in my mind for another 2wd truck that would rock with a 6.5 turbo...my 69 chevy truck..... Keep thinking about fabbing up custom shorty headers turning up over the valve covers with a center mount turbo with a twin down pipe out the back of the turbo. Found somebody that makes the exhaust flanges and standard chevy big block weld up your own headers should work. True 4" duel straight pipes out the back turning out in front of the rear tires. If the fuel manager was relocated and with all that room under the hood and behind the motor I think I could make it fit. I have a 4l80 with the stand alone computer and harness. I think she would fly... should be able to maybe get her over the 300 pony mark at the rear tires. Considering the truck would likely only weigh 4500 or so with me in it and fuel she would be a tiger.

I just need to get the motor screwed back together on the 95 GMC K2500 and see were things go. Been busy with work and the weather has been cold so things have slowed down on that front. If I was an appliance truck kinda guy I would just go get a disposable 6.0l 3/4 ton gasser and run her till she pukes and then get another. Problem is I get attached to my trucks and I enjoy wrenching on them. I also really enjoy the 6.5 and the way it drives. Gas motors just do not seem to be as satisfying as they used to be.

I'll keep an eye out. shoot, out here 2050 bucks has bought my nicest pickup. interior is a 9.5 out of 10, and exterior is an 8 out of 10. well loved 1993 K2500HD ECLB 6.5L 5spd 4wd, 250,000 miles.

bought a few of them for 1000-2000, and one drove home for 900 bucks.
