Ian from Heath Diesel turned just over 300 RWHP at a dyno event this past weekend.

Once I get a chance to talk to him again, I will get him to post up some info.

He was running pane, NOS, and meth at the same time...

Thats a 6.5 record right? Do you have any exact numbers or that it broke the 300 barrier? Its been along time coming hopefully you 6.5 faithful will break into the 400's someday. That new block looks promising. My truck will break the 300 barrier to, but the 6.5 wont be along for the ride. Congrat to Ian and Heath Diesel though.

You stole my thunder Chris, I was talking with Todd & Bill this afternoon about the event, I wanted to get their permission before sharing, got it so here is what Bill sent me.

From Bill yesterday:

Here is some info on Ian's truck. It was run on a dyno at a shoot out in Montana last saturday.

The truck was outfitted with all our regular stuff plus a few new things

Of note are some new products and one not yet in production. It was outfitted with with our new Heath-Snow digitally controlled water meth intercooling system running at a 10% blend.

Also and of special interest is the new Heath EconoMizer propane system. This is load sensing, proportionate flow type system desgined to enhance economy and power across a wide range of engine operational conditions.

We also had a small shot of Nitrous on the truck, but we run this only for the dyno and drag strip (20hp)

This truck normally produces 230 hp at the wheels with our normal stuff and no intercooling or other.

It usually does 300 or so with the extra enhancements and these at super conservative, fuel miserly settings. At saturdays meet, we showed the boys a totally smoke free, very very quiet (no diesel knock) 303 hp and 590 ft lb torque. In consideration of typical drivetrain frictional losses, the actual engine output at the flywheel would be on the order of 400 and 770 respectively------------again, with no smoke.

Thot you might dig this.

Also noteworthy Jim Bigley (Diesel Page) saw it, I believe dyno is same one Jim uses from time to time, the dyno is maybe 25 miles from Jim's place, It was the only 6.5 at the event, bested some of the other guys that showed, and even took a bite out of a 6.4 twin turbo stroke which managed 314 hp with a intake-exhaust-and program tune, who says a 6.5 can't mix it up, watch out while these dinosaurs may be old, they still have some teeth & fight in them left.

:willynilly: thats crazy! too bad i couldn't be there to see that one. i'll bet the when the numbers came in the dmax, cummins, and stroke guys couldn't believe their eyes that an "old 6.5" did that. i'm very impressed myself. way to go Bill and Ian. :smile5: that must be a record, but i wonder if this new record can be broken in the future?

I was going to go down there to meet up with Ian and watch his truck. Things came up here at home so I didn't get a chance to watch....would have been something to see in person though!

Notice how he said that it was on fuel miserly settings. And stock CR. And stock GM turbo.

Forget world peace, visualize 18:1's, that new mitzu turbo, and a ATA, and bumping up miserly settings a touch to say, tow. 320 RWHP or better? 330?

Guess I don't need to call Ian for a while...

 Um that has to be a mistake. I wonder if they guy running the dyno forgot to clear the computer after the Cavaliar that was dynoed before the 6.5

Hey, congrats to everyone involved in this endeavor. That is some good news. I've always liked the look of the 95-00 GMCs and respected the 6.5TD, I've driven a few.

Wow, nice to know so many people are happy to hear about my truck hitting those numbers. Still got some dialing in to do, I am hopeful that updating my GM-4 and a few other mods will push the numbers even higher. Special thanks to Chris and Tim for sharing the information.

FYI some will probably be wondering "how come you believe Ian's/Bill's dyno #s & not mine", well 1st more than just a pipe & chip happening here, as many who have made large numbers say is all they have done to theirs, 2nd the basic stuff done to Ian's and results they report with stage 4 combo http://www.heathdiesel.com/T/Chevy-GM/Chevy-9601/Performance-Combos/ have been duplicated on more than 1 truck so when Ian says 300+ Hp at rear is attainable with correct mods then it can be believed, also when folks from Page saw it and gave a thumbs up results are to be believed to be valid as the runs were witnessed by 6.5 guys with a LOT of BTDT 6.5 experience.
