6.5 engine build

Never looked to see if the studs had turned during torquing of the nuts. The important thing, as AK asked, is they reached torque spec. You have sealed them so you should be good to go.

Engine is back in the truck now it's a c1500 i would like to install an aftermarket down pipe, but all the ones i can find, say that it will not fit the c1500 chassis. Does anyone know of a brand of aftermarket down pipe that will fit or can be modified to fit the c1500? My current down pipe is the one with the 4 bolt flange to the cat.

About 10 -13 years ago I had a 94 c 1500 Ex cab short bed that I bought a complete exhaust from Heath and installed. The down pipe needed minor mods but worked well with no leaks.

Engine assembled, installed in truck added lift pump relay, pmd relocate kit, and oil cooler lines from Leroy Diesel, bled injector lines, was chomping at the bit to get this thing running, turned it over and it started right up, let it run for about 30 minutes with no leaks, after a few more minutes getting ready to shut it down for night and noticed coolant dripping from passenger side of engine, had to remove the turbo and exhaust manifold, pressured up on block and found leak,
a 5" long crack in block running parallel with the deck about 1" down. At this point have starter removed and going to try to weld it up. If this does not work out, i will have to pull engine back out, and replace block. Where or who is the best place to purchase an aftermarket block for the 6.5? Thanks in advance for the all the help.

Well that sucks.

Some have used military take outs from Teds Engines, War Wagon gets military 6.2's from another source. I no longer have either bookmarked.

WW gets his 6.2s from Boce Equipment IIRC. Good luck hate to hear news like that. Don't think I've ever heard of one broken there. I wonder if it froze

No this thing cracked either when i bolted down the head(installed arp head studs and torqued to 90 ft lbs per arp) or after starting the engine, when i pulled it from the truck originally it was for a head gasket on the drivers side, no external leaks, this crack is external above the starter, i also had this block magnafluxed while it was out. Has anyone on here tried to weld one of these things? Would like to run it for now till i can get a new block located. If someone could tell me how to post a pic on here i will post a pic of the crack.

Fixed it for you.
Hmmm... Their price has gone up.

I suggest the machine shop may not have looked there for a crack. I had one engine that had a crack from the head bolt hole down the side of the block, but, didn't reach coolant. It was tossed rather than rebuilt risking the crack hitting coolant later.

Lock and stitch cast iron repair is something you should look up.

I was going to mention the Lock n Stitch. It can run the good part of a block if it is a one time use.
