DIESELDAVE

I'm wanting to know that how much boost can a 6.5 diesel handle at a 18:1 compression ratio?

also depends on the turbo used.
that's a pretty tough # to come up with. Some blocks are just better than others and I'm not talking certain block #s. Seems to be hit and miss thru out all block #s. If you have a good high mileage block and it's not cracked I would probably stay under 25
if you bought an optimiser block and not a chinese knockoff I'd guess 25 with thin headgaskets maybe a little more
what turbos are you looking at? we have a member here who put together a twin turbo setup with two GM x series turbos. as long as you keep the drive pressure down 25 psi should be fine.
My new Optimizer 6500 is rated at 25 psi sustained.
Mine is a stock 20:1.
That's what I got from GEP when I inquired.
How much will it take maxed?
Dunno, only one way to find out and I'm not up for tryin' cause it usually leads to cryin'.
You might get more into and 18:1, you might not. Limiting factor is the head gaskets and the head bolt arrangement.
I run a 13 psi max and I have to have my foot in towing our 35 foot TT to hit that.
I'm usually down around 5-ish on the highway unloaded.
An intercooler/WMI makes no difference to how much it can handle.
30 psi is 30 psi, intercooler or not.
Chasing high boost numbers is fairly pointless unless you can wick up the fuel delivery also....then you need to start beefing up the cooling system.....and then you......well, you get the idea....
fuel is all ready turned up mane lol
I assume you're got a db2 then?
You're going to have a hard time hitting 375 horse on that ol girl....
so are we all LOL
RobZombie is pushing between 25 - 30 psi with his stock N/A Optimizer. I would say it probably has quite a bit to do with how the boost is delivered... I wouldn't want to do it with a GMx turbo that's for sure and wouldn't do it without all the supporting mods either.
