6.5 2WD suspension question

Deere are you talking about upper or lower joints?

The upper joint is a bolt/rivet on piece.

The lower (atleast with the cast/forged a-arm) is a press in piece.

Right. On my 94 K3500 both were rivets, on my 96K3500 upper was rivets and lower was pressed. Havnt looked on my C3500 yet..
 
That's a pretty loose fit if you can push it in with a floor jack. I couldv'e jacked the entire frontend off the ground and not pushed mine in.
 
If you pull your A-arms to put in bushings, make sure you have a bad assed coil spring compressor to get it back together.

I just did a full rebuild on the 93 awhile back, everything Moog or energy suspension. The hardest thing was getting the coils back in for me, my coil spring compressors weren't quite big enough, spent half a day locating one big enough to finish the job. I used my press when I had the A-arms off to press in the lower ball joints.

You'll save a couple hundred by ordering from rock auto, just make sure your ordering the right parts.

Set aside a full weekend for this project, doable in a day, but Murphy dont take weekends off.

I used 2 jacks, had the truck jacked up with one, and when i was ready to press the new one in i lowered that jack and used one under the ball joint to pop it up in. Went pretty smother but was lose. Im horrible at explaining things :eek:
 
The last time I had to save the bushing sleeves, I just used some heat. For me it was an acetylene torch, but one could use a propane or MAPP gas bernzomatic torch and do the same job. May take a few minutes longer.

Heat the outer shell evenly and the rubber will squeeze right out.
 
post a request in the vendors request forum...some have access to all kinds of stuff that you would never even think of...
 
I did polyurethane bushings in a 95 4x4 and was not happy that the shells had to be saved, I took the control arms out side and heated the rubber bushings until they caught fire and were soft enough to push out with a pry bar.
