Found this kinda funny......was watching the history channel today at lunch and they had this show called "apocolypse man" about surviving after a large catastrophy or disaster....They used an old suburban with a 6.2 to show how you could make your own diesel fuel from waste veggie oil. Suburban was in nice shape...Just thought id share :smile5:

sadly they dubbed over the awesome sound of the 6.2 with some little jap 4 banger diesel. I've seen that episode before. Nice that they used a 6.2, but really sucks that they made it sound like some jap scrap 4 cyl diesel.

I noticed the same thing haha. The initial startup was dubbed over, but you could here the distinctive 6.2/6.5 clack when they drove away

Yup exactly. Not sure why they dubbed over the best part. I love the sound of one of these engines firing up on a cold fall morning. :D

The first season of Ice Road Truckers showed a guy out on the ice (mechanic maybe helping a trucker?) with a 6.5 running in the background. I thought that was cool to see that in a "land" where death is imminent if one's engine stops running. Everyone else is driving around in brand new pickups, yet this guy held on to this 6.5. I hope lots of nay sayers noticed that, too.

My question was why, if it was a true apocalypse and it was no big deal to steal a sub, why wouldn't you break into a grocery store and grab a couple gallons of veggie oil rather than that disgusting gloopy deep fryer oil they used.

The idiot video editors "sweetening" the 6.2's sound with a little 4 popper reminded me of a incident in that Christmas special Billy Ray Cyrus did a few years back. He was driving a Farmall Cub and its sound was over dubbed with a John Deere 2 cylinder Johnny Popper track. I caught it right away since I have my grandpas Cub and have been around it all my life. I guess most folks are clueless about such things.
