6.2 j code gear drive timeing setup

I would also ask Leroy, PMD Cable. From what I have seen there is nothing he can not do and nothing he can not get.

But

To my knowledge Kennedy Diesel is the only person that carries them.

There is a good argument made that gear drives in this application buy you nothing. And suspicion that they change the harmonics in the crank that the damper is not tuned to. Chains tend to damp oscillation and lower its frequency gears the opposite. And so may increase the stress on the crank.

well my theory on getting the gear drive over chain is that if the chain gets any slack in it at all, your injection pump timming is throwed off slighty and the engine looses it performance when you most need it and milage is off to but not by a whole lot.as far as the gear drive goes in my opion the gear drive would be easier on the crank and cam because it would always have the same load on it from the injection pump ,unlike a chain that gets loose in a short period of time that throws a shock load on the cam and crank from the injection pump pressure going up and becomeing harder to turn because its under pressure when you throw a heavy ass load on this engine
I like correct timing ,not loose chain timing, all other diesels that have injection pumps use geardrive any way.ford new holland, prepowerstroke diesels, and a few others
