5068 IP

Back at the Place if you go in the archives TDG (Texas Diesel Guy) talks a fair bit on tweaking the 5068 pump for higher output. He made a reference to building Wester's performance IP's. He still posts occasionally there.

the 4 plunger DB-2, .
While a DS-4 will only put out about 92^3/1000mm max that is good enough for 153 mph @ Bonneville evidently, last time I taked to Bill about DB-2 fuel, his reply was if something out there better than DS-4, don't you think I would have had it on the Heath 6.5 LSR, which Bill is estimating @ about 500 flywheel Hp.

Do a FTB with a Walbro FRB-5 lift and you'll have plenty of fuel, will it make 300Hp rear wheel, I don't know. Ian rolled 303 Hp with a DS-4, did have pane & Nitrous IIRC, but no FTB or FRB-5

I read some of TDGs stuff, disagree with some of it, some shows potential, what I saw what he was doing mechanically with the 5068, I looked at with Diesel Pro at his shop one time when I visited there, is a band aid IMO with marginal potential.

What Bill & others are accomplishing with programming are about as good as it gets IMO.

Unless you put bigger plungers in the IP you can only deliver X volume, you can change the timing of the injection event with cam rings/ramping position with bumps and such, but driveability/mpg can, and often does suffer, far better from what I've seen is to do a quality reflash, and make sure the IP never suffers from low flow ie FTB/FRB-5
