4x4 head scratcher

Auto or manual shouldn't matter for teh speed sensor and tone wheel internally in the T-case as far as i know. The 2 pin VS 3 pin is for the 4X4 input to the ECM. An auto requires an input to tell the ECM when it is in 4X4(this one also triggers the axle disconnect) and the other one triggers the ECM when you go into low range for shift speed corrections. A manual simply uses an on off switch in the T-case to trigger the axle disconnect switch. This is the 95 in your sig correct? Does it have a thermal or new servo style axle disconnect motor? I don't think your VSS or its tone wheel is the problem as the tone wheel in both should be a 40 tooth. If your speedo is working correctly, then chances are it is fine as well since ALL of the 6.5 trucks take teh VSS signal to the buffer module and then it sends the speed signal out to the ECM, cluster, and radio. Have you tried pulling the front driveshaft out and driving it in 4X4 to see if it still does it? Try unplugging teh axle disconnect while it is in 2 wheel drive and then put it in 4X4 and see if it still does it. I know this will not give you 4 wheel drive, but it is the process of elimination to see what is causing your issue. If you pull the driveshaft and disconnect the axle disconnect, then put it in 4X4 and it still does it, then you know it is electrical as you have taken all of the drivetarin out of the equation. If it doesn't do it, then it is most likely a mechanical bindage in the driveline. So then you check it without the driveshaft and the axle disconnect hooked up and see if it does it, then with the driveshaft and without the disconnect and check it then. You need to isolate what is causing the issue.

And if you are still using the 2 wire manual switch on the T-case, swap in the 3 if you still have it as it should swap right in.

Nope man,the axle disconnect switches as you call it are diff in between the T-cases, they are not interchangable, same goes for the VSS,the length of the magnetic probe is different ,indicating a bigger or smaller tone wheel.

there's nothing wrong with the fr axle,te prob started after swapping the T cases.

I am sure the tranny is hunting between gears.

I just need to know if the tone wheels are interchangable
