My tranny is slipping....but only on the downhill side. Seems to be just jumping out of gear, and making a really bad grinding noise. And it feels like it is in nuetral, until I press on the gas again...then it goes back into gear. It only happens on the dowhill side. I was told by backyard mechanic that it might just be the tranny filter. If someone experienced same problem, please let me know before I put thousands into another tranny. Thanks

Is it 4X4? I don't have much knowledge on the transmission, but I did have my transfer case shift fork wear out and allow it to slip out of gear and grind. There are some other folks around here that really know these transmissions............

Yes....sorry, 4 wheel drive. And my transfer case did have a slow leak on it...so I kinda torqed down the bolts a little more and topped it up with fluid. But it still has the slippage when going down hill

I have had that exact feeling on a chain driven transfer case with a stretched chain. That is the first thing I thought of also.

I bought this truck a few months ago...and now I know that it is the transfer case thats the problem. Cause I put it in nuetral one time it slipped, and the transfer case did have the grinding noise still happen
