4l80e direct clutch assembly stuck

I’m disassembling my 2004 4l80e for a rebuild. I got down to the direct clutch assembly and won’t come out. I know it should slide right out but it’s only moving about 1/4”. Not sure how I can force it up or maybe try to disassemble lower to get it out. Also the snap ring on top of intermediate clutch broke off a little. I was able to get it out thinking it was trapping the sprag but it still only moves a little. I’m 4 hours stuck on wiggling it in and out while rolling the transmission around to see if something breaks loose.

Did you pull out the rear oil line fitting?

Yeah. Stripped everything off and got it cleaned up. I’m gonna try to take the snap ring out and see if it moves more that way. But doing that still won’t let it past the band. Idk what to do. Lol

I'm no trans expert but there are lots of good youtube videos on the tear-down and rebuild. I would say try visiting the school of youtube and see if you might have missed something that would cause it to stick.
