I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you were a GM enginner?Look you can use the 94-2002 GM TCM with a Mechanical Injector pump. There are two different pumps and TCM calibrations to function and shift.
The engine limits the RPM in most to about 3,300. But the "Squeezer" as we termed it in calibration, was offered to save fuel and increase MPG. The Squeezer limited the RPM in the mechanical pump to aprox 2,700 RPM. We released calibrations for each application. I don't remember what the squeezer is really called BUT the GM Calibration listing @ a parts dealer could help you.
You will have to have the TPS in order to have any TCM function.
If you elect an non GM TCM, you can but you have to purchase their harness or try to buy their TCM ends and connectors to convert thiers to the GM harness. I would use the GM TCM and it is farily easy to do so.
If you follow some of these expert opinions, you will be lost, spend allot of cash and have a burned up trans and still not addressing the TCM/Harness, it will burn up again.
Some of the aftermarket modifications will cause LOW LINE PRESSURE and very unstable line pressure. On hole that Gil younger tell you to do will baloon the converter and push excess pressure on your engine crank thrust bearing. The hole is about 0.035" and tell you to do this in the pump body to connect two passages - Line pressure to converter feed.
Another mode some do is to enlarge the Pump cover pressure reg Balance hole. this WILL cause the trans to whine COLD and sound as the converter is about to have a catastrophic failure.
Don't use these non gm TCM's on a 91-93. Read the other post abut the 4L80-E questions.
It's your back and money. I wouldn't follow 90% of the opinions here. These experts speak without knowing and will cause you great pains and money.

I have a feeling he is a retired enginner, or associated with design in some fashion. From my personal experience, those who were involved in that fashion feel that only they can design something to work with it. I don't see a problem with the OPTISHIFT or several other aftermarket controllers(I'm not a fan of the JAKES setup that runs full line pressure and shifts at the turn of a switch). When I worked at a dealer as a technician, we all HATED engineers because they always took the only we can do it approach, so just do as I say. We REALLY hated it when we would have to find fixes for there mistakes in the field with them telling us to do it like they did it which has proven to not work, and we were tired of fixing the same problem over and over again.I've been there many times and will say it again. You are going to be time and money ahead to purchase an aftermarket TCM.
If you use a 94-2000 TCM there will always be some little problem your dealing with. He's going to have many more hours invested before he succeeds or not trying to use a TCM. Point is Vintex could have be done by now.
OptiShift/US Shift is a very good TCM I'd even say better than a stock 92-93 TCM. It is fully adjustable blah blah.....
US Shift Quick1 complete kit is only $550, Quick4 is $750 an excellent value IMO.
How much time and money will you have buying a stock TCM and related parts to make a stock 92-93 TCM work? It may or may not be much, but if your buying from scratch maybe $200-300? + time to get it working. So just not going to be worth it IMO and in the end have less TCM capabilities than a US Shift.
