hi going through a few hard spots with my truck ,iv converted to mechanical injector pump works great the tranny is the problem iv got the Ess and the tps iv got a original GM TCM
My truck is a 98 and the TCM is out of a 95 so the bobby Martin system doesn't work
Iv read on a few posts that it is possible to make a stand alone controller with the components that I have Does any one have any info can guide to a wiring diagram /pin out diagram time isn't a issue
Smooth /hard shifting isn't a issue but cash is as iv gone as far as I can go in my present financial climate
Regards vintex

I believe the 95 ECM will need a custom PROM to work correctly without the DS4 pump present. Your best option is an OPTISHIFT controller, but that is another chunk of money.

What I'm trying to aim for is is wireing my 98 which now has a db2 pump the same as the 95 bus that the TCM came from ,as far as I know ,I could be wrong ,but it had a db2 pump with a factory stand alone TCM if I could get ahold of a 4L80 wireing diagram for the 95 bus then all should be sweet,I would look at deleting my PCM from my truck and put in a manual glo plug circuit
As I don't think the bus would have had a PCM for the engine

Your correct it wouldn't have one, but the transmission is different I believe. A 1995 pickup transmission will not work in my 1995 hummer. Hence the problem.

Got some price info back. I know its a lot but just so you know I can sell the Quick 4 to you for $799.99 shipped to Australia.
Or the quick 1 for $549.99 + $90 shipping = $639.99 shipped.
Quick 1 is what I use now. It can be upgraded to the Quick 4 if you want at a later time.

95 OBDI technically uses a non compatible TCM for a 98 OBDII. The solenoids and force motors operate on a different frequency.

The changeover was 93 to 94. A 95 trans will work just fine in a 98 except for the cooler line hookups. And I see no reason why a 95 pickup trans wouldn't work in a hummer except for maybe a unique mounting boss or something for the hummer. Electronics have not changed for the 4L80E since 1994 internally, 95 saw the addition of the NSBU at the case atatched to the shift shaft, and for the most part the 91-93 wasn't that different except for the pressure control solenoid operating at a different frequency and utilizing a cleaning cycle every 10 seconds. Another member here also found out that the 91-93 force motor has now superceded to the 94+ style. As to the bus, some naturally aspirated busses and even non turbod pickups used a DS4 injection pump. Not sure about AUSSIE emissions, but I know here in the states a 95 bus even without a turbo would most likely have a DS4 injection pump on it due to emission regulations. It may have been different for overseas versions though, so you need to check your PROM ID to see what it is and wether or not it was for a DS4 or DB2. You also have to be careful if this is a 4X4 in the fact that standalone 4L80E controllers from GM were meant to be used with an output speed sensor in the trans as it was not capable of figuring the 4low ratio for proper shift points. ONLY the 91-93 4L80E trans used an output speed sensor i nthe trans for 4X4's. Later models have a dummy plug there, but there is no tone wheel for it to read internally.

Let's look at this from a differnt angle,if I put my tranny behind a 6.5 with aDB2 pump I added ESS and aTPS and I have no PCM will the GM TCM work my tranny ?
The TCM I have came from the states out 95 mini bus
Emissions arnt a hot topic in our state at the moment .
Not that it's overly inportant can the quick1 /4controlles run cruise control?
My truck is 4x2

If your ECM came from the states, then it is for a DS4 equipped truck most likely. As to your cruise, that one is going to be tricky. The optishift can provide the speed signal, but not run the GM cruise. The cruise you had before was all electronic as DS4 equipped trucks are drive by wire, therefore there is no need for a cruise servo as the ECM controls the throttle input to the pump.

If you need pics of the db2 cruise stuff, let me know. I tried digging up some schematics, to no avail.

Definately listen to theferminator on that trans, he is lightyears beyond me.

Post pics of your tcm, vssb, and anything else in question.

Yeah the cruise like I say is nice but not nessesary ,my Main priority is getting my work truck mobile, the rego is disappearing fast and I'm having to use the wife's car for work and being away for seven days at a time is making life harder than normal
Maye be I should have researched the project a lot harder than I did,but it is what it is and iv got to deal with it
I must thank you all for your help so far,I wish I had found this site earlier in the piece! Would have saved a lot of cash,I only went down the road of a TCM because I was quoted $1500 for a controller ( when it comes to uncommon spares every man and his dog wants to rape you ! )and the bobby Martin method was well within my capability , just didn't relise obd1 and obd2 are like chalk and cheese
So if any body out there has pulled of what I'm trying to do ,I would really love to share that info,if I can get going I can save up for old mates controller and every thing will be sweet
Kindest regards vintex

For an OBD2, you are MUCh better off to go stand-alone with the TCM. The OPTISHIFT could have been put in in an afternoon and going just fine on a base program with some minor tweeks to it that can be ade from the actual unit itself. Theres other options out there than optishift, but it is tough to beat the optishift for plain simpleness and it works.

Oh well looks like the only way I'm going to get back on the road is with a stand alone controller, can some body stick up a wiring diagram for one ,how much of the original wireing does it use ,does it need Ess /tps??do they control all the internal pressures and so on correctly?
Regards vintex

The optishift I believe only needs a TPS signal from the engine to work. You can probably supply it an ESS, but I don't think it's required. And it will control line pressure, shift timing, and so on all from the stand alone box.

Only TPS is needed. Quick 4 has many more optional functions like adjusting line pressure for each shift, adaptive learning and many more.

US Shift Quick 4 Transmission Control System

We offer an easy upgrade program at a nominal price for existing Quick 1 customers who wish to upgrade to the revolutionary Quick 4 controller. Since all of the harnesses from our second generation controllers (Opti and Quick 1) are compatible with the Quick 4, upgrading an existing installation is a simple plug-and-play operation. In some cases, a new lead may need to be added to an existing install which would be as simple as inserting an included wire into the connector shell. Upgrading your current controller to a Quick 4 will also renew your warranty for five years.

The TCM is 16147609 for 91-93 vans , 16196390 for 94-95 vans . These were DB2 pumps so no ECM , only throttle cables . What is your part number on the ECM ?

The wiring is basically the same as the 91 R/V series trucks . I have both of the TCMs and manuals for 91 and 95 G vans . TPS , engine RPM ( not thru the front crank sensor ) , DRAC should get you close .
