Local Junkyard has a 95 K2500 with a 6.5TD. He claims the tranny is a 4L60e. AFAIK the 6.5TDs only came with 4L80e ? AM I wrong ? My 1/2 95 Tahoe had a 4L80e ? He wants a G for it. was thinking about it for the CUCV.

Id be hesitant to pay that much for an auto tranny knowing nothing about it. If it was in a drivable truck then maybe. But im gonna agree with ak diesel driver here

My 94 1500 6.5 "turbo" has a 4L60E.

Never heard of the 4L60E in a 2500 &^ though. $1000 to me is to much unless he will do R&I. Check Craigs list.
I bought my 4L80E for $400 a known working trans. Just grabed it for a spare.

OK, next question is a 4l80e from an OBD1 truck the same as a 4l80e from an OBD2 truck ?

Supossedly in 94 & ^ they changed the Force motors to operate with a different signal from the ECM than the 93 & v trans using a TCM.

When I converted my 96 to DB2 IP I ran into this. Using my 96 4L80E with a pre 93 TCM. The trans actually shifted fine/worked great and still does with both signals. So, no real world differences as far as that gos.

On some older one the atf lines were about a foot seperated.

I dont know about OBD1 vs OBD2.... but I can tell you that the 94 vs 95 are different. 94 uses linkage for the shifter, while 95 switched to the cable shifter. The case is apparently different (not really sure anymore than this, other than my brother discovered this over the weekend when he tried to use a 94 tranny in his 95)

I am planning on putting the tranny in my CUCV and running a comushift but was curious. Also are the gasser 4l80e's different than Diesel ? I know the old TH700s were so were the TH400s.

OK cause on the older trannys the VB was different too but I figured on the 4l80e the differnence in shift patterns might be in the PCM instead.
