i traded my 02 for a 09 crew cab short bed duramax. i was able to have both trucks in my garage at the time of trade, i wanted to keep my alloy rims and 315/75/16 cooper atr's and put them on my new truck. yes they are stock alloy rims from an 02 and the rims are too narrow for the tires but that is what they are on. i owned the truck (or the bank did) for less than an hour before i cut the fenders to make the tires fit. 315/75/16s will fit on the 09 body style, they will rub on the sway bar just like the previous body style but i think the truck looks better. i had to cut from the fender from where you can see in a diagonal back to the mounting bolt and then zipp tie the fender liner backwards and forwards. i also cut the pinch weld on the fire wall back to the spot welds to make sure there would be no rubbing. without calibrating the speedo and odometer i saw 18 mpgs with the dpf on a 800mile trip cruise set at 80 (per gps) using a .07% correction ratio hand calculated had a best of 18mpg for the trip less than 3k miles on the truck. now i only am getting about 14mpgs very mountainess but still have the dpf. as soon as the second ecm gets in the dpf will be gone and it will be tuned. just wanted to let everyone know that 35's will fit with a little trimming and will get decent mileage with the dpf. and i cranked the torsion bar bolts up approx. .25". still sits nose low by about an 1/8th of an inch.

Hmmmmm...no problems with caliper clearances stepping back down to 16's? How much room you think you have to spare? Even on my old '99 with stock 16's, I packed enough mud/rocks in there more than once, drove a few miles to get back home after the fun, and found it tore up aluminum alloy wheels pretty good, even tearing off the wheel weights (aftermarket wheels that is).

Just FYI.

Well considering the fact that the 09 came stock with chromed steel wheels 245/75/16's, there is no problem with clearances. Yes if you pack enough mud and rocks into any wheel it will possibly tear the rim up. If the truck came with alloy rims they would be 17's, half ton steel wheels are 17's as well. Why a 2500hd has 16 inch steel wheels , im not sure. And yes I even just double checked the sticker on the door and it says 245/75/16.
My camera is broke right now otherwise I would have pics already, I might try with my phone later.
I did have one issue though, I was able to drive over 100 miles with no tire pressure sensors before the light came on. Just saying a lot can happen to a tire in a 100 miles, I would have thought it would have recognized not having any sensors much sooner.
