The quantity of diesel I put in my tank tonight. I left the house for the fuel station with a gallon of peanut oil in the passenger seat just in case.

My main is a 22 gallon tank!

Of course I have the 25 auxiallary one in the rear....

And the 50 gallon xfer in the bed....

And the only working fuel gauge on my desk next to the computer....

Prolly should get off my ass and go install it.

Man.... At the cost of peanut oil that would have been costly compared to gallon of diesel.

Yep, but it would have smelled nice and lubed my IP well .

The wife had my credit card and I had to wait for her to get home before I filled it as I was cash tapped. I could have put more in. I've never been that low.

This is direct copied from a Owners Manual PDF from the GM Owners Center (98 GMC owners manual to be exact)

Fuel Tank Capacity (Approximate)
PPe Quantity
Short Bed 26 gallons (98 L)
Long Bed 34 gallons (128 L)
Standard Crew Cab 34 gallons (128 L)
Chassis-Cab Front Tank 21 gallons (79 L)
Chassis-Cab Rear Tank 18 gallons (68 L)
3500 HD Models Front Tank 21 gallons (79 L)
3500 HD Models Rear Tank 18 gallons (68 L)

Also, two weeks ago towing with my 91 4.3L, i fueled up at a station that was sloped, and i put the neck on the uphill side, and i squeezed 34.2 gallons in, spilled maybe 2-4 ounces

I knew the 1500's had a smaller tank, but that (25 gallons) surprised me, too... I would have thought 28 or 29. Your gallons are smaller than ours, too.

My trucks are 2500s, so they cost a fortune to fill up, even if fuel is cheap!

INteresting note, Napa called my front a 22 gallon (not 21) and listed the rear as a 25. Thats a big difference from 18. I just put it back in service, so havn't filled it enough times to get a feel for it yet.

My manual says it's a 26 gallon tank, useable fuel probably 25 gal with the baffle tray in it where the fuel pickup sits, my packed full to shutting down empty range since adding new turbo @ 70-75 mph hiway went from 380 miles to 440 miles

Wow.. that's 3 gallons of fuel. Up here, that's almost $10.

That'll add up in short order...

its times like these you wonder why that cant make a clear gas tank out of bulletproof acrylic or something fuel resistant. All you would have to do is take a good peek to see how low you are!
