oI have a 2000 chevy turbo diesel it will sometimes it will start and stay running for maybe 5 mins.....other times it starts then immediately dies.....but for the last couple weeks for the most part it just turns over but won't start.......

I changed one of my batteries to a larger battery and it seemed to be running fine drove it around for couple few hours.....parked it for a couple hours went to go to the store it started fine....then about 2 or so miles down the road it died and I haven't been able to keep it running for no longer then 5 mins if at all since then can some body please help im so ready to start pulling my hair out with this....

Welcome to TTS.

On the coolant crossover there is a T valve, open it and turn the ign. on. There should be a steady stream of fuel.

It also sounds like it could be a bad PMD. PMD is an electronic device a bit larger than a deck of cards on the side of the IP.

There is a lot of reading in the technical library.

yes there is a steady stream of fuel.....the pmd is the original one that came with the truck....if the pmd was bad would it still allow the truck to start? we did change the fuel filter and the glow plug relay.....My brother in law sprayed starting fluid in the air box last night and it acted liked it was going to start but didn't.....

Don't use ether. PMD's have all kinds of symptoms. Sometimes they will cause a no start, or they will randomly stall, or fish biting, etc. www.pmdcable.com is a site vendor, he carries pmd's and relocation kits.

ok thats what we thought the problem was to begin with....but then when we were able to get the truck started and was able to drive it around again for a couple hours we didn't think that the pmd would do that we thought when it went out it went out.....

My original would stall once or twice every few months. Then it might stall 50 times in succession then be good again for a few months. It can vary.

ok thanks.....we did notice that this is a recall part also but of course it goes out right after the deadline on the warranty extension on it...

did you ever notice you cruise starting to not function correctly, before the stalling issue. On my truck that was a leading indicator that the PMD was on it's way out. This was on a Stanadyne unit that I had already replaced and put on a heatsink in the front bumper. I'm on a new one as of 1 year ago, and it is the other brand.

Nope...the only thing that happen was we were on our way home the truck died it was the first time it had ever done that we were able to baby it back to my mother in laws....from that point til now it would start then stall start then stall ect. then a couple days ago it started we drove it for a few hours parked it a couple hours later went to leave to go to the store it started we drove it about 3 miles maybe then it died...and started that start and stall thing all over again now it to the point again where it won't start at all...so now im off to get the pmd ordered thanks for all the help :)

One other thing to do and it's free is to clean any and all grounds. Bats, 2 or 3 by the trans dipstick, firewall to frame on pass side close to trans dipstick and the ones on the intake manifold.

Welcome, did you order the PMD from me? Rio Linda seems like I just sent something there. Got any pictures of your ride?

Yes I did and THANK YOU so much....the truck started as soon as he installed the new pmd.....We were so happy to hear that truck start our granddaughter even clapped her hands and said woohoo!! LOL

Well great glad to hear the good news, don't be a stranger around here. Post some pics of your truck (and new PMD kit )when you can.
