1999 GMC K3500 - Help!

Your wish is my command!

Couple other quick questions: Is there any sort of wire pass-thru in the firewall or do I have to drill a new hole to run power back for my strobes/amps/so on...?

Fuel gauge doesn't seem to be working, goes from about 3/8 to 1/2 full. Is this common? Where should I look first?

Thanks again for all the help!

Thank for sig,

Fuel gauge is commonly inaccurate, when full I'm 1/4 tank past full, can go 160 miles on that then down to 200 at half, and 200 more after that for total of about 400-450 miles on 26 gal tank depending how I drive, my burb 43 gal tank is good for 840 miles until it runs out of fuel & stops, don't ask how I know that #, but you may also want to check the gnd.

sounds like from # of wires you are running you'll need to drill some holes, don't forget the grommet so sheet metal does not cut into wires, and RTV to seal it up once you have finished running them.

Another possibility for the wires is to crounge a salvage yard for a bulkhead fitting and fuse block out of a vehicle with a small electrical system and make the necessary hole to instal it where most convenent. Ususlly the older models have fewer systems to deal with. You can purchase these items from a vendor but depending on the size they could get pricey.

Good to know about the fuel gauge! I'll have to do some checking.

As for the wires, I could easily get away with a single 10 gauge wire for now...is there a passthru at all?

Don't worry, I've been installing lights and stereo systems for years, have all the tools and pieces necessary to do it RIGHT.

On the side I sell used auto parts, so I have no trouble getting access to parts cars and as I mentioned, also have a history with auto electronics, so fused distribution blocks and so on are no problem.

There is some room thru the exisiting peneterations, my pryo, and boost come thru beside the parking brake cable boot IIRC, or possibly the hood release cable boot, can't remember for sure, been a while, but a couple of boots have room sufficient for a single 10 Ga wire,

good to know you have prior skills, one thing whenever you see a caution from me, it is done generically as with new poster I don't know skills of whom I reply to at 1st, but even after that is known I still offer up cautionary notes here & there as more that just who I am responding to read the post so possibly a less experienced readed gets the benefit of what might be obvious to you or I.
