good morning. I am pulling my hair out on this wiring harness underhood of my 1997 k2500 ext cab. there is a harness that splits off engine main harness and runs down left side of engine. there are three connectors for the air conditioning compressor and one that I cant not find where it plugs into. the connector in questions is a two pin male connector that is bundled along with the three connectors for the a/c compressor. two years ago when I began this engine swap I marked it as "crank sensor". when I removed the engine I could not remove crank position sensor from block. so I bought new crank position sensor and installed prior to dropping engine in truck. from what I recall the crank position sensor had a short lead. the replacement sensor had a longer lead. I currently have crank position sensor connected to a "y" harness that one end goes to the back of the injection pump and the other end goes to the pmd. does anyone know if the crank position sensor is supposed to connect here and where would my connector in left engine wire bundle go????????

I am ready cry or kick the dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The CPS is a two pin plug, but it's way down on the lower front left side of the engine.

thanks big T. I am still confused. when I pulled the engine it had a sensor left lower side by harmonic dampener. it had a tab with one bolt holding it in. it had a short electrical lead approx. 6 ". when I purchased a new CPS (old one I couldn't get out without destroying it) it came with a longer lead. I marked original connector when I removed engine but two years later when I am now installing reman I cant figure this out. do you know if the cps connects to the injection pump directly?

All the CPS leads i have seen are the longer ones with the plugin connection closer to the IP.
If you marked the plugin "CPS" then why second guess yourself,..plug it into the CPS ( if it fits that is)
Maybe the Y lead you'r talking about is for the Fuel shutoff Sol.??
There is also a 2 pin sensor bottom rear of the PS pump if i recall correctly

I have it cps connected to y lead at injection pump currently. you are right the connectors don't match. there is a connector already in position by power steering pump. and one in left head forward , that appears to be a water temp sensor. I am not second guessing my marking. LOLOL I am quad-drupel questioning it because I have not found a place to plug it in. thanks for everyones help. I just wish I could identify where this one goes!!!! so fricking frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this connector is in bundle that comes from back of engine along with the three connectors for the a/c compressor.

does anyone have a wiring harness diagram that shows where components are plugged into. especially pics of crank position sensor and injection pump pics would be way helpful.
I have to admit I am a lil over my head with this project.

1 to OPS under intake
1 plugin for FSOS
1 to CTS on the water cross over
1 to the steppermotor on the IP
1 to the OS on IP
1 to PMD
2 to the sensors on the intake
1 to CPS
1 to pass side Glow plugs.
Thats about it what i can recall

The bundle that comes down the left side of my engine that plugs into the AC compressor (also has some wires to the glow plugs) a 2 pin plug attaches into the temp sensor in the head.

I can take a picture tomorrow if you like.

thanks everybody. I am still lost. I have the bundle splitting off from from engine bundle..runs donw left side of engine. it has thrre connectors for a/c compressor and a two pins male connector that the wires are white & brown. I have glow plugs already connected and water temp sensor in left forward part of head conncted (single blue wire in the connector).

this is another engine from a swap. is there any chane I could have not revomed a connector from the original core engine?

again this connector is white wire and brown wire. two pin male.

See if you can find a same year model truck/suburban/Tahoe for sale on craigslist(near your house). Take your camera and camcorder(what ever they call them now days). Take lots of pictures. Maybe a member on here our another forum would be willing to step up and help out.

Wish you luck!

Alright, woke up after coming down from Big Bear Lake at 4:00 AM, hitting Bass Pro for Black Friday specials at 5:00 am. Then home and got lucky with the wife. Now up to shop for bathroom tile and entry way stone.

I checked the '95 and coming off the left side bundle you have one 3 wire plug (currently unplugged but probably the alternator), single blue wire plug at front of head, glows AND a short two wire plug (white/red) that goes to the Wastegate solenoid. Pic later if you need it.

I took a quick look at the harness for the '99, but no time to crawl underneath. Splitting off from the plug with blue wire to the front left head temp sensor, there's a two wire lead. Wires are white and brown and it dives down under the power steering pump towards the CPS. This is different from the '95. There is one 3 wire plug to the AC pump. Don't know where you're getting 3 plugs to the AC.

Sounds like your marking was right all along. Hope this helps.
