I have a 1996 Georgie boy Cruise master on a Chevvy chassis (6.5 turbo)
my problem is sometimes it wont start,it turns over as normal.but will not fire.
if it is going to start it does as i turn the key.
on the times it starts,it starts and runs fine, then after a few seconds it cuts dead, turn it off for a minute or two and it might start or not !.
If i can run it long enough to get hot (5 min or more) it will run all day.
i have checked and it it has fuel pressure to the filter all the time even when it cuts out
HELP.......
Paul

What is a PMD?

Well then TD chuckles :):):)

1st off welcome to the site and your 2nd post.

You'll want to spend some time in our tech reference library to learn some 6.5 basics http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/forumdisplay.php?218-6.2-and-6.5-Technical-Reference-Library

PMD= Pump Mounted Driver (see photo thread in the TRL) "black box" literally, mounted on the side of the IP= injection pump that interfaces between the PCM= Powertrain Control/computer Module tells the fuel solenoid on the end of the IP when to squirt and how long it should squirt provided yours has an electronic IP.

Before going further can you confirm if you have an electronic or a mechanical IP?

I guess the next question may be "What is an IP?"

Yes, please read the technical library, so you can familiarize yourself with the jargon/terminology used in this particular diesel trucks.

Hi all.thanks for your posts.
I have checked and it is electronic injection and the ip does have an pmd fitted to the side,it is black and reads
STANADYNE AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONIC DIESEL INJECTION 30214.
It has a small grey ground lead going to a screw on top of the pump,i removed and cleaned this and it started
coincidence?.

The 6.5 electronics is fairly susceptable to poor ground issues and poor/not running.

It's worth you while to chase down all the vehicle grounds and clean them up. Especially since you apparently live in merry ol' England (ie: wet).

Since it's a motorhome, it's hard to know exactly where they'll be. You just have to hunt them down.

Thanks Great White. i live in north devon "where it rains six days out of seven" and i'm on the coast,
I will try and trace them and give them a good clean off.

I'm over for a pint or two every 12 months to fly the EH101 simulator (Merlin in RAF speak) at Benson, Oxfordshire.

You gents got the traffic flow thing just right with roundabouts, wish we had more here.

Oh, and microbreweries (I miss Hook Norton), and double malt, and small family pubs everywhere, and.....well, you get the idea.

Don't miss having rain fall on a sunny day though. That's just confusing......
