1995 SLE 4x4

Paid $7700 for mine 2.5 years ago. Turns out it had cracked heads and some bad bearings on the 49,000 mile Goodwrench 2003 engine -- even though it ran great. Not all is bad, though, since the block is one of the Navistar castings. I never knew the engine was other than original until after I bough it (though I did notice how clean it was and that it hadn't been cleaned), so it was a nice suprise. I could have gotten by with just replacing the heads, I think.

~$4,000 later and it's better than new. I still think I did fairly well. I didn't have to spend that much to get it going, but I wanted to make it better than new. The interior and exterior are very nice. As it turns out, the IP was also replaced in 2003 at about 87,000 miles.

I bought my 95 z71 for $5700, light rust, but has a new short block driven by an older man towed rarely, leather/ perfect interior, SSD PMD Mount (atleast he made an attempt and shows he cared some what). 225K miles I am getting close to 250K on it and I couldn't be happier.

Have some faith!

I kind of purchase vehicles like the women that I have been involved with in my life...if it's meant to happen it will and if it's not then it won't & be greatful.

Might be a blessing that you are not getting that call back :newangel:

good point...... maybe the truck already sold. oh well plenty more out there, not like I am in a pinch for a vehicle thank God.

unfortunately I do know the capability of the dmax and the 6.5 is far less powerful but I am fine with that. I have read a lot of turbine doc's threads and a few others on power adders and reliability components. The most I would want would compare to a stock LB7, I thought that was plenty of power even before all the mods I did. when did the L65 come out? would it be cost effective to modify a L56. My main goals are fuel economy and reliability.

Very easy and inexpensive to change out to L65 it is route I started with, and you can see where I am, I leave the L65's and many other vehicles waaay behind with my L56 hybrid :D

Junkyard trip to get a compitable F PCM, and upper/lower intake will make you on par to the L65, then it's just a matter of elbow grease and some better parts after that

So my advise get the best S or F you can afford and start from there, the difference between S & F isn't that much anyway as both have the3 GM crappy program that cuts your power right when needed, the same performance PCM you need to make a F truck better, works on the S truck
