Looking for an A/C compressor delete kit for the '94. Will be upgrading to an intercooler and WH1C coming spring. Lost my chance to buy Rafedail's nice unit due to unfortunae doctor bills. Ive called my local NAPA and even Rock auto. They sell bypass kits for '99 and newer 6.5's, also ones for the G series van, but nothing for the older trucks? Can anyone lend any knowledge or know any part numbers that can help me? Thanks!

I couldn't find one for my 92 either. I ended up ordering one for a 350 gas. It fits fine but flexes,it uses only 2 bolts and made in china. I believe any bypass kit that is made for the old style compressor should fit.

Yeah, they are basically the same thing.... I wonder why they dont produce one for the diesel? I want to make sure its reliable..

I don't know if all tensioners are the same ,but mine is very strong,it takes two wrenches hooked together to move it. I believe this is why it flexes the by pass bracket.

Did you get it to work?

If it will work with any gasser of '95 and older i can prolly find one cheap. Thanks!

I recently bought a 94 Chevy Suburban K2500 6.5 TD. The ac compressor froze and the shop i took it to wants now half of what i paid for the truck to fix it. I plan on swapping for a Cummins later this winter so why waste the $. Haven't been able to find the bypass pulley for the 6.5 engine for that year and you seem to deal with similar issue. Were you able to get the pulley work with your 6.5?

Hey, i am actually still running with my compressor "intact". My plan was to go to the junkyard and find a 350 or 305 gasser that someone allready eliminated the A/C or the truck originally didnt come with A/C and steal the bypass pulley and bracket to try it. It has since been put on the sidelines since my compressor isnt froze (i broke a line when i replaced the engine). I am still looking to do this, next time i go to the Junkyard it will be on my priority list. But if you buy the bypass brand new for a gasser i believe its only $30 bucks.

I put the Dorman made in China idler in and it seems to be alright. i didn't notice any flexing even tough, since the compressor mounts only with three screws and the idler with two, i had to instal it kind of parallel to how the belt goes around it. I didn't had a chance to run it yet since after sitting at that lazy @$$ dealer for almost two weeks the batteries went dead and I'm waiting for the booster that I bought for a fraction of what would i have to pay for the work to them guys who by their own words don't charge you for how much time it takes but whatever the heck they want:)
I'll let you know how t goes when i have the truck up and running. I'm also considering, if the idler doesn't seem 100 %, taking the compressor apart, getting the guts out and putting it back in if the bearings are OK which they seem to be. I just need to figure out how.

The truck's been running for a while now and i haven't noticed any problems with the pulley, belt or anything else around there.

I have a bypass pulley that is for the 454 and it went in fine. I was concerned about the flex thing so I fabbed up a support bracket and put it in and worked BEAUTIFUL. That bracket I made could be produced EASILY and sold with the same bypass pulley for 5-10 bucks more but for some reason they aren't doing it... Stupidity maybe..... but we all know they know whats best...NOT. This bracket is nothing but a piece of pipe (big enough to slip over bolt) and a piece of 1/4"x1" flat steel about 5" long bent in an offset to fit inside the existing a/c bracket along with the pipe and go to the hole on the pulley that has no support.

Diesel slug, contact me and we can discuss selling you my pulley and bracket since I only used it for about a month until I could get the new a/c compressor. If you are interested.
