Hi Guys,

First off I am really happy to find this site, seems like the forums are active. I have to say that I am a Ford Guy at heart. My hobby is restoring old Mustangs and currently have 6 fastbacks complete and 3 more in the middle of restoration.

Here is my question...I have just purchased a 1991 Chevy K3500 dually 2wd with a 454 that has been rebuilt. It has a check engine light on due to the o2 sensor not being hooked up (located on the drivers side). Looking at the Chilton's the book shows a purple wire that should hook up to it (the only purple wire that looks like it would be a candidate does not have the same type pigtale and is located on the pass. side). does anyone have any ideas or pictures of this issue? Also my other thought was that there may possibly be a single wire harness that hooks to the pigtail available and has the correct one on the other end.

Thanks for the reply!

First guess, someone screwed an O2 sensor in that might not be correct, and they didn't realize the pigtail was different on the replacement.

Also, since you're a Ford guy I'll share something with you: C = 2WD, K = 4WD. :D I just noticed that you said K3500, then 2WD. Got me all excited thinking about a square-body K3500. :)

Thanks for the information. LOL! Anyway the pigtale that is on the wiring harness is located on the passenger side (it reaches tto about the distributor). The oxygen sensor is located on the drivers side (wire reaches to approx the head) and is too far away to plug in to that one.

91 dually should be ab R3500 shouldn't it?

in 91 didn't C/K = GMT-400 and R/V = square body which would have been K5, Suburbans, and 1 tons?

Yes, if his truck IS a square body it is technically an R3500, but NoxCobra hasn't clarified which body style he has.

NoxCobra, have you been able to trace the purple wire that you do have back to it's origin and verify that it is correct?

being a 91 its a gmt400 1990 started the 1 ton gmt400 bodies 89 was the last year of the 1 ton box type body style that i miss like my old 82 k30
