1978 Nomad Trailer Restoration/Project: 88GMCtruck is at it again.

^^ It'll make it easier to back up too. Less whip effect.

I like 'the stacking of the quads' loading technique. :)

Whole rig is one fun looking deal!

extending the tongue is the best thing you can do for sway. amazing what only a few inches will do
Yeah, it totally changed how it tows. I added about 2.5ft to it. It also increased the angle i can swing the truck vs the trailer.

I think I can fit 3 quads with the tailgate open actually, and with the long tongue I think it's totally possible.

Had another camping trip, up in the hills of Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Park, at the base of Mt. Rainier. The weekend was incredibly warm and beautiful. The truck ran great, pulled the trailer like a champ. Only had 2 issues, the mosquitoes were fierce, and something punctured a trailer tire on the way out (nothing a plug didn't fix)

Anyway. enjoy.

Nice pictures for sure, beautiful scenery there. I have been wanting to go on a camping trip, but I have not had the time. I guess I will get plenty of it this fall and winter.

Always finding ways to spend money. Last time I was up at the junkyard, they had a really rusted out, 60's ford camper van. I noticed that it had this brand spankin' new vent/fan installed in it and figured why the heck not. Picked it up for $20. Turns out it's a Shur-Flo Comfort Air Gold roof vent. Pushes 950CFM, is reversible direction, and has adjustable speed.

Out with the original vent.

I've been wanting to install a second vent in the bathroom for some time now, as it has pretty bad ventilation having only one window. So, I cleaned up the old vent, marked everything out, blocked the opening and installed the original vent above the shower. It also added a few inches of headroom above the shower.

Getting ready to take another camping trip soon, taking the truck, trailer and quads back down to the sanddunes.

Yeah I went cheap the first go'round, used the good old butyl putty and a outdoor silicone over it. In a few years when it gets re-done next i'm planning on using something like your talking about. Wasn't fully sure where things would end up considering it was my first rebuild.

David, you've done a hell of a job on this project. I always get a bit excited when I see a reply to this thread hit my email inbox. Hell of a job.

Thanks :D

I'm hoping to take another crack at sewing, I want to recover the cushions in burgundy and grey. I'm also considering re-painting the stripes burgundy and grey as well, try to tie the truck and trailer together and update the trailer a bit.

Also, I'm going to be getting new tires by next summer. These aren't as durable as i'd like, i'd rather not risk having a blowout.

David fails to mention that it was I who crawled up on top of the rusted out rickety old F*rd and removed the vent for him. Also got him the $20 price. Perks of working in the afore mentioned junkyard. :D

Well hell Devin, you've got to get at least SOME excuse to post on these threads.:hihi: Works out great with you being the spotter!

He didn't see the vent. I noticed it and kindly asked (ok, maybe I was drinking and demanded he to get it for me) but yes, he did pull it for me and got the good price.

hey i have just came in possesion of a camper nearly just like this one and just like it comes floor and wall work but i think mine is a little worse for wear that yours. you did a great job on yours just hope i can do the same.
