18:1 Compression Pistons

Really? odd.
I've always been taught the quench is for best exhaust scavenging, and better combustion mix.
how does having a large flat area reduce carbon build up?

The flame can spread over more of the piston. My last motor was .090 in the hole,no loss of power, and the pistons were a nice smokey color.

I decided to go with the 0.030" oversize pistons that the supplier got in, 20:1 CR, i don't want to put off the rebuild any longer than I have to....Winter Is Coming

Interesting news to note, Kennedy sells his custom pistons in oversize, he just doesn't stock them so it takes some time to get in. If i ever do a rebuild again and don't have a time constraint I may look at his further.
Anyone had any experience with them?

Thanks,
KV
