Bad problem to have mid summer in Ok.

My ac has worked fine until 2 days ago. It was freeze you out cold.

Now my ac comes and goes. Is there a switch, dash unit, check freon? 240k miles and first ac issue I know of.

source unknown

Low pressure switch at teh accumulator is always a good place to start looking. On a high milage truck the compressor clutch gap is another problem area. When the clutch is cold it will pull over, but once it warms up the gap opens to large for it to engage.

Ok, found the issue today finally.

The company that installed my bale bumper laid their 0 gauge power wire on top of the harness that goes to the dryer switch. This hot wire pressed the harness against a metal ac line. That line must either get really hot or really cold, the insulation was black and the wires had pulled apart internally. A 3" spice, heat shrink, and wire rerouting and all is well.

Now to fix my cruise finally.

Its the best ac system I've owned. Blows hard and will freeze you out.

My dad's 08 f250 w/ 180k has constant ac issues.
