This would help start a knowledge base for lighting on "this site"

Okay...I never had an 03' up front before...so what are the maximum wattages for bulbs for the large round GMC fog lights... they have to fit the factory housing along with the 03' up bulb plugs...

Recommendations anyone?

It might say in the manual and I'd look if it wasn't still with my truck in the body shop. Somebody else will have to look.
I will say that the 2 chevy 2500HDs I had ('03 & '05) had the factory fogs and damn they were bright. I got flashed alot with those and I can see why somebody closer to the ground wouldn't like them. I've never been flashed at with the GMC fogs on (insert flash joke here). Of course they aren't quite as effective in visibility as the Chevy ones were either.

I get the same thing in my Chevy. I expect I'll get flashed by people more as I put a set of Hi beam bulbs down in the fog lights. I don't see why it wouldn't work with the GMCs.

The GMC Fogs are more like Flood Lights, and it only gets worse when you put in Brighter Bulbs.

If you do put in Brighter Bulbs, I'd only use the Fogs when there are no other Cars around. Or give it a shot and see if you get Flashed.

Hey Pepp, did you ever Measure the Diameter of the Opening in the Bumper to see if you can find an Aftermarket Lamp that will fit?

not yet...monetarily my next purchase will be to beef up the tie rod ends...then maybe a CAI and maybe new shocks...

then I might consider the HID lighting route...

Yea, my next Big Install on my Truck (after Tomorrow) will be all the Steering Upgrades from Cognito.

I got a Mountain of Parts here, just gotta put them on.

Lowering Hangers.

When I put on the Shackles it REALLY Tilted the Axle Forward and I get a NASTY Bounce when I go over Bumps. Because instead of the Axle and Springs being Flat, they are Angled Forward, so when I hit a Bump the Springs wanna Compress Up and Back and it kinda Launches the Rear of the Truck Forward.

So when the Hangers go on, it'll Flatten everything back out, and the good Ride will be back.

the spread pattern is for fogs, however the 9005 as Grady describe will fit...just a small bit of effort is needed. I would like to do the HID things like Unit453 did....money is really tight right now, plus the wife would hang me if I bought something I couldn't cook.....

Exactly...And I'm running PIAA 510's and 520's. Both sets are the same size if you want me to measure them.

Nick did you ever try an aftermarket set of lights in your GMC factory locations?

or know someone that did? what did they do/use

I know the lighting section was your hang out at the old site...so if anyone knows it would be you...

Silverstars and Silverstar ultras. Silverstars aren't bad for a plug and play light but dont expect them to last any longer than 3 or 4 months, if that. My advice would be not to waste your money on anything until you're ready to go HID. Trust me, you dont know how much I've spent over the years between both my trucks on lights. Bulbs, replacement bulbs, more replacement bulbs, more replacement bulbs, new bulbs because they're supposed to be "brighter"... Do it right the first time with HID's.

in the fogs?

James says the factory fogs are not very good for much...more of a flood light...I was thinking of a better housing...maybe an actual fog that would fit in that spot with minimal modifications & bracketry...

I wouldnt waste your time. I thought mine worked very well and never had a problem with them. I had a write up from a couple years ago about the differences between the GMC lights and the Silverado lights. They're different but each have their own plusses and minuses. I always thought they worked very well. Either way, those style are light years ahead of the style you used to have.
