'00 CCDRW flatbed Motor Rebuild

Well it has been a while since i last updated this project but here is where we are at

Since i wrecked my 93 (not my fault) i took the motor out of it and striped it all down. changed the front cover to an elctronic injected one, resealed the oil pan and valvecovers. I also put a new water pump on, had the ip rebuilt, cleaned it all up squirted some paint on and put it back together. Thanks to a friend of mine i got a screamin deal on a Dmax 9 blade fan. i did all the other good stuff, like Feed the Beast, put my FD on, dual block heaters, new vacume pump, i did not change the inj or gp's since they only had 20k miles on them.

I dont have a picture of it but i have also removed the flat bed, going to put the bed off my 93 on it, and i have swapped the dual rear axle for my single rear out of the 93. i know have a CCSRW truck

The first few pics are how my yard looked for about 5 days while doing all this swapping and parting out, i was just wating from a letter from town hall (the town hall building is my neighbor, so theres no hiding from them)

This is my buddies tractor that we used to do all the heavy lifing RED POWER! and a load of scrap we hauled in. not much left of the 93 when she went

We drug the truck over to my buddies 4 blocks away and put it in his shop to finish the project since i dont have a garge big enough to fit any sort of automobile in plus its to cold to be working out side.

i havent switched front tires on this yet (figured the 225's would make it easier to put the motor in instead of the 285's) my question is when i take the dually adapters off will i need to get new wheel studs or will they be long enough to use?

I'm at a buddies wedding all the way across the state but i can see what one of my duallies studs look like when I get home this afternoon. Iirc they are the same length as srw studs.

it looks like the studs are there and that is what the adapters are bolted on with i guess i will just have to tear into it and see hopefully i dont have to buy all new studs it was a PITA trying to find them the right length at the part store one time before

Wheel studs should be the same, atleast when I converted my 96 srw to drw they were.
What are you doing for the rear axle? The 93?

Well it runs and it doesnt sound like the timing is to far off either. What type of scaner is needed to set TDCO? is there a stickey on how to do that?
had a little bit of a battery issue trying to start it but got a really nice charger on it that my buddy went and got and she fired right up after getting good fuel out of the 4 D side inj lines. made a big smokey mess in the shop since there was no exhaust on but man you should hear the turbo whistle like that. tommorow she gets exhaust, new u joints, tranny fluid and filter, and then im going after the seats and carpet so i can drive it home. going to be a busy day

Congrats on getting the old pig running. Would have been a good chance to throw a better turbo on!

How did your lock stitch inserts hold on the 599?

good i have some pics some where of it ill post when i can find them. it has a gm8 iv got a vgt on the shelf just didnt want to mess with it just yet

just got done installing the carpet, that was a struggle its a nice fit once its in but man was it hard to get it in. the whole thing had to be trimmed to fit. it was perfectly molded but the sides had to be trimmed and you have to do some serious shapeing under the dash. still have to get the seats bolted in and the trim back on thats going to be a fun job as well.

got the exhaust on as well today, was able to salvage the exhaust from the 93 and add some pipe that i scavanged out of the dumpster at a local diesel shop, just need to get some hangers on it and it will be perfect.

also had my buddy that works at a local driveline shop redo my drive shafts so they have new joints, carrer bearing, and where balanced and painted.
