The case saver mod replaces the output shaft C-clip and prevents the shaft, sprockets and chain from shifting and then rubbing a hole through the x-fer case.
There is also a different type of case saver designed for GMT-800 Duramax 4x4 x-fer cases that prevents one of the sprockets from riding...
My former brother-in-law GAVE me a brand new ox-acetylene set, the tall oxygen and acetylene tanks, Victor medium duty manifold/torch with all the tips about 30 years ago. He was a Regional Sales Manager for Praxair at the time. I modified a two wheel hand dolly into a welding tank cart and...
I went through two ignition modules inside the distributor of the 305 wheezer in my old '84 G25 Chevy conversion van before I solved both problems by building and dropping a 300+HP 327 ci engine with a Pertronix 50,000 Volt distributor system into the van.
Other manufacturers than those two make them with the metal shells already on them. Now, whether for our application, I don't know, but when I just Googled 'polyurethane control arm bushings' up came not only Energy Suspension and Prothane, but pictures from other mfrs with what looked to be...
Energy Suspension and Prothane are two that come to mind immediately. You can also get polyurethane control arm bushings with the metal shell already installed on them, for extra of course. Makes the swap SO much easier and cleaner that trying to cut/burn the old rubber bushings out and then...
Most fuel systems have a check valve in the evap vent line to the tank to prevent such backflow from topping off. My '05 Camry does, which is why I can put 19.3 gallons of fuel into an "18.2" gallon tank when I happen to be bone dry empty (two needle widths below the E mark) and running over to...
Yeah, I always fill to the top of the neck. I get some strange looks filling up as when the pump kicks off, I will start gently rocking/bouncing my vehicle to "burp" the tank, squeeze some more in to bring it back up to the top of the neck, then repeat until the fuel level doesn't go back down...
Yeah, if anything like my '98 K2500 Burb, you will need either a hydraulic press or one of those C-clamp type of ball joint press tools to get those bushings out of the arms.
Bigger question: Why didn't you replace the bushings while you had it apart to do the upper ball (and lower?) joints? It...
Glad to see things are going better for you on your follow-on patching. Hopefully it will all be done lickity split and you'll be priming and painting in no time flat!
Ah, saw that one stuck in with the others now. So, were they a "kit" with the gussets pre-cut and you cut to length the 2 by's to make the trusses, or was it all stubby pencil work and cut everything on-site?
