-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

We do have a lemon law, but it was an as-is buy as far as I know. I spoke to the dealer and the best offer he could make was to have his guys make the repair and pass on the cost. I'm checking with the DOT though, and will file a complaint against the dealer (its a big dealer).

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

No, not yet I figured it was a head gasket just based on the symptoms. I've owned this truck for 10 days and already had the PMD fail, a head gasket go (presumably), I have a clunk in the front suspension and now I have low oil pressure to boot. Wow. Any idea what I'm looking at for cost on a...

    Low Oil Pressure at Idle

I had this same problem this morning. Its -26 up here in North Central Wisconsin this morning and my "check gauges" light comes on when I get off the highway and close to work. I looked at the oil pressure gauge after reading this thread yesterday and sure enough its in the same place Jeff's...

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

As easily as this truck starts I'm really starting to have problems. It was -26 this morning and it started on the first cycle. However, once it was going it smoked like crazy and has been going through a lot of coolant. Once its warmed up the smoking almost goes away, although its hard to...

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

Is the manual glow plug thing something that you put in? Mine does that automatically on cold starts, it will cycle the gp's on and off a few times for the first few seconds once I have it running. Mike

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

Well, to top that it started on the first glow plug cycle this morning and its -21F here today (no wind chill). I am having another issue though, the truck is losing coolant. I filled it last Saturday and its already back down again. I'm hoping to god that its not a head gasket, hopefully...

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

I'm going to bring it in to have the front end looked at. Its too cold to be jacking up the car and laying on my back for any length of time!

-11F (without wind chill) and it fired right up!

Thanks to everyone for the advice on my Suburban. After the new PMD it runs great and the stalling issue is gone. Its pretty cold up here today, -11F when I went to start the Sub this morning and it fired right up! I was happy to let my buddies know who were giving me a hard time about...

Can I relocate the DSG unit into the front bumper?

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

121,000 miles, but the dealer paid for it anyway since I bought the truck just days before.

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Well, I went out to start the Sub this morning and it wouldn't fire. It was -1F, but was plugged in all night, so I called that local diesel shop (K&S Fuel Injection) and they actually drove out to my house with diagnostic tools and a new PMD just in case. It turns out that the PMD was bad, so...

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Thanks for the input Jeff, awesome news about Kennedy I'll check them out. I've read that there are people using the Bosch marine injectors as a replacement which should help with the smoke and also help with performance a bit. I may buy a set of those. I've never installed diesel injectors...

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Do those symptoms seem like a PMD issue? If so I'll spend the $300, but I hate to just throw money at fixes until I'm pretty sure. Thanks again!

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Wow, well I just learned a lesson. Its 4 degrees here right now and I just got stranded in Sub on the highway with the family in the truck. I went to start it in my driveway and let it idle to warm up (it quit a minute later), started it again (it quit less than 3 minutes later). The third...

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Wow, lots to read and figure out. Again thanks for all of the input from everyone. I will look into the battery modification first. Apparently the oil cooler line is leaking a bit so it will need attention right away. I drove the truck on a 75 mile trip and the mileage was 18.5 mpg which...

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

We don't have inspections, so that's not an issue. How did the exhaust affect performance & mileage? How much louder is the truck? Thanks!

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

No emissions in WI, yet. Did the kit require any modification? I had a system built for a Saab 93 and ended up having to do some work to make it fit. How was the performance increase, and how much louder was it? Thanks! Mike

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

Thanks for the input. Does anyone know whether my Sub (a '98) will need to run catalytic converter if I swap out the exhaust for the 4" setup from SS Diesel Supply?

New to diesels - 6.5L Suburban

The PMD is working as far as I know. Given that its in working condition, can it be relocated?
