I guess I don't understand how that could have sent voltage back to the battery. Everything seems to be working properly. I just don't have fire to the plugs right now. Has to be in the distributor because the coil is hot.

For some reason, my alternator only had one wire running to it. It was an 18 gauge wire coming from the coil.

Where did you put your ammeter/voltmeter?

N8in8or, any movement on the L35 project? Yours is looking great. I'm currently working on mine also. Had hot wire from the ignition to the solenoid wear through the insulation by rubbing on a post on the hour meter, shorted and fried. Caught fire while Iwas clearing felled logs in my pasture...
