    Squirrels

Something I've started to check on trucks I've let sit or something I'm looking at buying. My wife's truck was not near this bad on the air filter when we bought it last year, but had a lot of debris brought in by mice.

Running again, no leaks this time

I noticed that too from your post, that you're venting the blowby externally thus releaving any crankcase pressure. All these engines have blow-by. The only ones that don't hardly have any where you can vent like this are those that are equipped with gapless 2nd compression rings. Even then...

    6.2l piston question

You mentioned being able to rock the pistons. This is completely normal! There is .004" clearance on these pistons, but that is measured about 3/4" from the bottom of the piston skirt. The piston is tapered, especially near the crown. Most likely to deal with carbon build up issues in a normally...

Running again, no leaks this time

You'll continue to have leaks if you use any gaskets. The only gasket you need is the rubber rear pain lip seal. Unfortunately in the aftermarket world they don't sell this separately. I buy a Fel-Pro Pan set and throw away the pan set and keep the rear lip seal. Then I use a specific RTV that...

Diagnosing Air Leaks in the Fuel Line

Return lines found in the Dipaco kits get hard and brittle after a year of service. I only use the return line that says Made in Germany on it. No issues with that.

Slight tick or knock from turbo on my 6.5 diesel

Never heard a turbo make a tick or knock. Now I've heard plenty of ticking sounds come from around the turbocharger assembly. Usually a tick can be heard in the cab real bad when the heater hose tube comes in contact with an injection line, near the turbo. Will make you think your engine has...

    Welcome Unique Diesel

Guess we'll have to catch up. Which injection pumps are we talking about? Currently the only pump we keep any kind of stock on is the Hot Rod pump. There is a lot of competition out there for standard rebuilds and injectors. I'm primarily interested in high performance and quality when it comes...

Running Too Much Boost, And Blew A Head Gasket.

I think 6.2 Turbo bent rods because of cylinder to bore clearance issues and not due to cylinder pressure via boost.

    Delta 202 cam no good?

Great White, Thank you for the explanation. I paid my dues for the software/calibrations, there is no need in suspecting that this would be shared. I believe in paying for what's hard earned.

    Delta 202 cam no good?

So, just an FYI for the bust on this post. The one little guy that says he knows how to overcome this limit is... He calls himself the Great White Liar. Yes, Great White says he has the secret recipe to overcome the 79mm fuel rate limitation. But wait, none of us are worthy of this...

    Scat cranks revisited

From what I understand, there have been a couple of failures. I know of one from a friend of mine, His broke at the first journal. I think the theory that makes the most sense about these cranks is the initial balancing that's done at the factory. They may have missed the mark on the balance...

    6.5 repair or replacement options

Id' buy a new manifold, aftermarket has these now. Used ones almost always require machining on the ports to get a good seal again. Not just anyone can machine the turbo side manifold either.

    Looking for a performance DB2

Is the Bull Moose the biggest pump? The little to no smoke tells me about where you're at with fueling, not much. The ATT does not flow that much air, really. Sounds like a 6.2L pump maxed out with some governor work.

    New Downpipe Peek

Agreed, While you're doing this right. Please investigate machining the fitting that mates with the downpipe to have a similar bevel to that of the factory turbo. This way the flange will mate to the flare of the downpipe and have a better time sealing. The flat surface on the previous and...

    2000 K3500 Gone Mechanical Build

When you get to the oil drain part. If you've got another stock oil drain tube off another engine, use that instead of your cut one. The stock oil drain tube will bolt right up to the Holset w/o modification. You'll want to install the tube on the engine before you place the turbo on the...

    2000 K3500 Gone Mechanical Build

On your engine tear-downs consider if you don't come up with a crack-free block that you could use one that perhaps had one small crack on an outside hole. With splayed caps that hole is abandoned and really shouldn't spread. That the primary reason why these splayed caps were developed for the...
