Thank you, I am going to try -1.94 and see how it responds

Long, slow build of my truck

Does anyone know if a Heath ECM comes with TDCO preset or is going to be the same offset as whatever my truck was before?

Long, slow build of my truck

Not sure of IAT, do not have a gauge for that (yet) but yes, big fan in front of the truck, hood open. Good airflow

Long, slow build of my truck

I was in the passenger seat when the truck was on the rollers, and it was in OD with the TCC locked up. Ill be the first to admit I dont know much about dynos or auto transmissions, but I think it was kosher.

Long, slow build of my truck

Im not so sure about the turbo thing. I friend of mine ran a Heath tune with an HX40WII and he said he was OK, but the truck screwed with the GM-5 he had before. But he said his EGT's were thru the roof with the GM. I hit 1200* on the dyno, previously it hadn't gone above 1125 in daily...

Long, slow build of my truck

I dynoed the truck again last night, same setup as when it made 160/320 except now with the Heath tune. Details are in my sig. The tune brought it up to 190/380, so gains of 30/60 at the wheels. Heath claims gains of up to 80/100 at the crank (55/70 at the wheels assuming 30% loss via automatic...

Long, slow build of my truck

Update time! After some minor setbacks, the gauge install is finally complete, and we are up and running. Cruising around, boost is 0-5psi, 5-10psi going up a hill, and 12-18psi under moderate/heavy acceleration. Fuel pressure is 9psi at idle, 2-3psi at WOT, and everywhere in between depending...

    Valve cover reads "New 6.5L"

So I should disregard the fact that the engine is "new" and treat it as if it is original 1996 equipment.

    Valve cover reads "New 6.5L"

So my truck supposedly got a new engine at 100k, but I don't have any paperwork from the PO on it. The driver side valve cover says "Goodwrench New 6.5L", and I haven't been able to find much info on it. I assume the engine was built after the truck, which is a 96. Right now, I am looking to...

Long, slow build of my truck

Update, having put over 1500mi on the truck with the tune, I can say I am mostly very satisfied and feel that it was well worth the $400. My only complaint is the lack of top end power, but I need to try a bigger turbo to see if its lack of air, or lack of fuel. I suspect lack of fuel, but we...

Long, slow build of my truck

Can you explain what a restrictor is, why I need it, and how to build it? I know nothing about water pumps.

Long, slow build of my truck

Good, I want to change out the fan and clutch at the same time. Kennedy's parts to do that look pretty good. Thoughts?

Long, slow build of my truck

So model year 2000 pump is the one I want? Do I need a different gasket or are they all the same?

Long, slow build of my truck

Gauges are in, so far only boost and backlights are hooked up. Hope to have fuel pressure and egt done this week. Best way to get access to manifold is pull inner fender? I want to get to the flat spot under the turbo flange. Also, looking to do some maintenance/upgrades to the cooling system...

Long, slow build of my truck

Leroy, the boost is mechanical, EGT and fuel pressure are electric. Had the truck on the highway tonight for the first time since I put the chip in... I am a little disappointed. I was not sure what to expect, but it does not feel like the same truck that rips around the back roads. Seat of the...

Long, slow build of my truck

Yes, it was caused by a bad temp sensor, go figure. The thing rips now. I have to make a conscious effort to keep my foot out of it, otherwise its 3500rpm and 20psi. Really excited to get it on the highway. Ill get some videos.

Long, slow build of my truck

Just did a 3mi loop with the Heath ECM and holy sh!t the thing is fast! Like a completely different truck. I told them to write it hot and they sure did! Nice thick cloud of smoke and then its 20psi in the blink of an eye. I have a set of gauges on order, including a 0-35psi boost gauge, this...

Long, slow build of my truck

Figured it out, just as the OBD code told me, I had a bad connection on the coolant temp sensor in the crossover pipe. All better now. Gauges are next. Heath tune should arrive tomorrow.

Long, slow build of my truck

Just thinking out loud, the pump has been on since before it started doing it. It didn't start chugging and missing until I changed the fuel filter last week. Any relation to this issue you think?
