‘New’ ‘95 6.5L TD died after starting and before I could get seat belt buckled

GMC Sierra 3500. Chrome is good... Exterior just needs a paint job. In Texas so very minimal rust. Interior... Drivers seat is shot (big "rip" on door side), backseat good. Dash good. Steering half decent (leaky fluid system but we keep it full). New ignition. Only real problems are whatever is...

    Changed PMD still not right

Thank-you. From what I gathered from the guys checking it out the injectors aren't opening (or is it closing?). They said locked up. It did run a tiny bit better with the new pmd that had a lifetime warranty. But it ended up doing the same thing after a mile at 55mph. The "mechanic" (I will be...

    Changed PMD still not right

I'm just going by what the guy said. Claims he's a diesel tech. I'm leaning towards injectors and ip, and air filter and possibly the turbo, at least getting it checked out. The thing is it's not throwing any codes. Except over 3,000 rpm's and the occasional service throttle. Now she revs...

‘New’ ‘95 6.5L TD died after starting and before I could get seat belt buckled

Great advice from this bunch. Any chance you want to buy a 95 GMC 6.5 for an "organ" donor? Been told it's her crankshaft but everything else is pretty good. New fuel filter too. $1000 and I live 70 miles east of Dallas... Texas...

    Changed PMD still not right

Thanks. I'll be around. I did love the truck when it worked right and had nice a/c. At this point unless I can find a new motor it's pretty much out of my league. Even a "new" motor is more than I can afford. But maybe if I can find someone who'll let me make payments on a cheap little car the...

    Changed PMD still not right

I'll hang around. Never know what may come up with future sets of wheels. I'll also need another truck at some point. I'm working on an at home sewing business and thinking being mobile with my embroidery machines would be great. So a trailer is needed... Besides there is so much to learn...

    Changed PMD still not right

Last post on my big red Beast. Crankshaft/main drive. Both seals front and back are gone and the whole thing rocks hard and the several injectors are locked up. Taking all my fixes off (pmd and app, they didn't help anyway) so I can get my money back and selling the thing. Anyone in East Texas...

    Changed PMD still not right

So... Not pmd (tried 4 of them with no change in symptoms)... Not injection pump (no codes), changed out app sensor (complete freaking assembly but now has a lifetime warranty). Of course it could be junk in the tank and needing a new sock... I changed out the fuel cap. At some point someone put...

    Changed PMD still not right

Opinion now of 4 "mechanics" one of which is a diesel tech is that it is the app. Tried all 3 pmd's ("original" on truck, Amazon $100 and O'Reilly's $260) and it's the throttle/accelerator pedal sensor... Returning the O'Reilly's pmd tomorrow and getting the stupid sensor... The guys actually...

    Changed PMD still not right

It's an obd1. My neighbor has an obd2 reader and it won't hook up. Got it running... Took it out up to hiway speed and it did the same thing. Started chugging, spewing black exhaust and when we killed it and started back up it redlined... So either I have a bad ip killing pmd's or something else...

    Changed PMD still not right

Honestly I have no idea about resistor in the old one. Also no idea how long its been on the truck or brand. It's still stuck inside the bumper by a rusted bolt. I picked up a PMD late last night from O'Reilly's auto parts (lifetime warranty). Now I guess we tried it too many times without...

    Changed PMD still not right

Nope... But with this truck the way I'm looking at it is I can put the money into it and have it run again or buy an equally crappy car and have to shell out more to keep it running... Thank-God we rent and don't have to worry about property taxes. But I really wish we did. I want a piece of...

    Changed PMD still not right

Thanks guys. Only trouble for me is cost. We live paycheck to paycheck (broke the day after payday) normally so even a $20 part freaks me out financially. Once we get Beasty running again I am looking for a better job.

    Changed PMD still not right

Yup... Ok I had a mechanic friend (the one from church who works on the BIG rigs) show up and started the beast up. She started right up and her exhaust has changed to a variety of grey. His feelings are bad pmd. He said it's getting fuel so the injectors and pump are ok. But it's not being...

    Thinking is a BAD thing

Had a dog fight about an hour ago between my Boxer Jax (3 years old) and Bear (lab/step 1 year old brat). They are quite capable fighters. Bear has a hurt shoulder and Jax has a big old tooth gash above his left eye.

    Thinking is a BAD thing

Yeah about the pups. Dad (Boxer) is a 90lb monster who hasn't met a person he doesn't like. My girl Baby is a Lab/Red Heeler about 60lbs who has no concept of personal space. But neither does Jax. The pups don't stand a chance. Little lovers all of them. The biggest pup is about 30lbs and...

    Thinking is a BAD thing

Still waiting on funds (aka my crappy Taco Bell paycheck... I should try saving fryer oil for Beasty) to try a new less cheap pmd and with some other crap (scuse my language I really am a lady. 😛) life has been tossing our way I've been over thinking everything. Could part of my trucks issue be...

    Changed PMD still not right

One of the guys I go to church with who works on the big rigs swears it's the pmd. There's only 180,000ish miles on my Beast. I got a hold of the guy we traded for it and he said the IP was changed out at about 130,000. Since AutoZone is here in town I'm gonna try a new pmd and go from there...

    Changed PMD still not right

Ok... I know it uses oil.. I put a quart every 2 weeks or so. Right now I'm afraid to run it because of the rpm's to get it hot. What is a cdr? It's used oil the entire 2 years I've had it and problems only cropped up now. So I guess trying another pmd and replacing air filter and see where we...

    Changed PMD still not right

So my first post was my intro and I said about Beast and her black smoke/runaway throttle issue. Changed out the PMD (my sis bought me 1 off Amazon that came with a heat sink and relocator line) added a #9 little green piece (😄) and she is a bit better. Doesn't immediately run away but now takes...
