    Engine install thread, opinions welcome

Nvmd, we got her on. Dorman instructions specifically say NOT to use the bolt, pressed it on instead. I'm sure the bolt would work fine.

Anybody have a trick for installing the pulley on the vac pump?

The snotty tank stock? Damn, wish I knew that a year ago. Just replaced it and the sending unit last year.

I have Leroy's LP harness (with the genius button priming) so priming up to the LP will be piece of cake. And the GP override, not sure I'll need it now with new GP's and injectors. Sooo you just leave the 3 back GP's in on the passenger side?

I pay homage to the gods daily. And I can't be the only guy who sits there, drinking coffee, admiring his engine... Your hose kits definitely make it easy on the eyes. If you had your BRF on your website a week earlier, I'd have one of them too. Ended up making my own. I'm just itching to...

Any advise for matching up to the trans? I was going bring up the bellhousing as much as I could then have the back of the engine a little lower. Are there any tricks?

I plan on removing the glow plugs right before I drop her in. The filter is just there till she's dropped in. The starter brace is there. I was surprised to see it. The old #141 never had one.

I never know where it is. Was thinking I'd paint them so they're easier to find

Do you guys know how much time I waste looking for tools vs. actually fixing? I actually thought someone was taking my 10mm, 13mm & 15mm wrenches and sockets.

I will be once I'm ready to drop the #506 in. Need to do the rear seal once the installer tool shows up. Then I'll drag the truck in, do the mounts and wiring and a good wash. I'll be taking time lapse video of the install. Here's a link to the video I did of the old #141 removal. Doesn't...

    Replace engine oil pump?

This engine was the best option for me, considering up here there isn't a lot of options. $5500 for a rebuilt? No thanks. Ted's or optimizer? Exchange, gst, duty & shipping will cost a fortune. My old #141 was tortured, overheated, starved of fuel, and had ridiculous EGTs, and still lasted 250k...

    Replace engine oil pump?

Where to start... I don't have a lot of money into this. But I trust that the mileage is honest. I'm not going to tear into the heads yet. Maybe after I put it back in and it runs. As for everything else, I have a long list of parts that have been replaced with new or hardly used like: HB &...

    Replace engine oil pump?

Mines out of a '98 and I'm sure it has the HO oil pump because it has 1/2" oil ports, just put Leroy's hoses on this afternoon. Is the pump difficult to change? Has anyone ever done it?

    Replace engine oil pump?

Engine swap in progress. The old #141 had a bad injector and cracked #8 piston. Pulled it out, and found a low mileage #506. (105,000miles) I've already swapped a bunch of hardly used parts and installed a lot of new ones on to it. My question is should I replace the engine oil pump while the...

    Sort of new guy

Hello, new to this site. Not new to diesel, had my '96 k3500 crew cab dually long box for 5 or 6 years. Had almost 600 posts on a different diesel site. Got sick of the elitist remarks and condescending attitude from that "place". I'm hoping to get some real help with my engine swap which I'm...
