What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Wimped out and had someone else install the Red Head steering box. BigT already poked me in the eye for not doing it myself so feel free to jump in...whatevs! Regardless, I'm sure pleased with the product. The before and after results are phenomenal. I need to recalibrate muscle memory though...

Need help! In a pickle in Nome, Alaska

Thanks for the answers. Understand you’re under a time crunch so the pressure is real. Hang in there.

Need help! In a pickle in Nome, Alaska

Are the IP codes still present? Post 39, timing is correct at 3.5. Did you perform a “Time Set” function with the scan tool after getting the motor temp up to 170. Engine will slightly stumble during the “handshake” with the PCM and new IP. Then go after TDCO. If the gauge arrived, what’s the...

Need help! In a pickle in Nome, Alaska

Been there with the face in the hands thinking, 'Mom, why....' Of course, I've been there after I've done something only an ID-10-T would do too. You can check how close / far away the IP timing is from 3.5 with it chugging and jumping and temp below 170 since you're not doing the time set. Just...

Headlights always on/No Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

If you still need schematics. I’ve got the 97 version scanned for DRL specific and Exterior lighting. They’re pretty spot on for my 96 and may work for you. Unfortunately, too large to post here. PM an email and I shoot them to you.

    Under hood light bulb

I got an LED replacement from SuperBrightLEDs. LED elements are actually encased in glass like an incandescent.

Tail light, Trailer and other fix/updates

Long ago I had issues with flickering tail lights and, being in a time crunch (moving across the country), cut out the C409 four way connector at the tailgate and spliced a ‘temp’ fix. Working with BigT and getting his tail lights operational reminded me that replacing that connector was on...

Need help! In a pickle in Nome, Alaska

Having recently fought through this issue with the shaky motor a while back and in the process condemned four injection pumps purchased through Diesel Site/Heath that were rebuilds from two different firms…a bad IP wasn’t the issue. I’m leaning more towards the replacement IP’s repositioning...

    Fuel problem

To be clear on what you’ve done… What LP are you using? Did you install the Wix Pre-Filter? If you’re getting 6psi running and 8psi at key on, then the Jumper Wire not powering the pump is a separate issue to shelve for now (chase that squirrel later) but, it begs the question jrsovie asked, are...

    Fuel problem

Is the 8# fuel pressure with the new Carter? If so, there are Carters and then there’s Carters. The one in your picture didn’t look like the one marketed by Leroy Diesel. Those are a higher price but, he sells them in kit form designed for easier installation to include the correct power...

    Filter before Lp

The AirDog DFs are flow on fail. I’ve read that it isn’t but those comments were directed at the Raptor which is AirDog but, as already noted, a different pump set up, Mine certainly is, unfortunately but, thankfully. I’ve read that the FASS pumps initially were not but, they were redesigned and...

    Filter before Lp

Sorry Amigo, If I wasn't gifted the AirDog, I'd still be running the Walbro but, passed it on to someone else back in 2013 and can only say I don't remember it dropping off more than a few pounds at WOT. If it had, I think I would have remembered...being pretty unhappy about it. Plus, I...

    Filter before Lp

As WW pointed out, the FRC-10 is/was supposed to be for a DS-4 but, the point is moot as Walbro doesn’t list them on their site anymore. FRB-5 (45 gps at 8-11 psi) is supposed to be for non-electronic injection pumps though the one I bought through a site vendor was offered with the OEM LP to...

Nope, Mine was the FRB-5 (found the receipt)

    Filter before Lp

Walbro FRB-5 (IIRC). 8-11psi, 45 gps. Good pump. I’d still have it but I got gifted an AirDog so….

    Filter before Lp

Too late to edit the above. Here's the set up I used previously. Filter housing can be set up to flow straight through or, make a 180*. I purchased a set up from Wix but, Summit, Jegs etc. have them too.

    Filter before Lp

Can’t find my Walbro pics. This one is from PMDCable.com. IIRC, the way things worked out, the filter looks like it is downstream of the pump but, trust me, it isn’t. A 180 off the pump is required to feed the IP Member Buddy posted his set up back in 2009. Not sure what pump he was running...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Yeah, I got the five-head mullet. Just having some post Army retirement fun. The ragtop is too fluffy for wearing loose but, no 'man bun.' Ewwwww

    S&B Airbox with HX40

Mine and this example of SoB's air box are one and the same. It differs only in that Heath's didn't have the option to remove the rear and open the back. I guess the reasoning for that 'improvement' was/is to allow for improved hot air induction making the term 'Cold Air intake' an oxymoron. I...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

BigT is on the road. On the way to breakfast I noticed a lack of tail lights, brake lights and turn signals. Figured the signals were just a California authorized delete option but the others? Yeah, not so much. Back to the house for everyone's favorite thing...electrical diagnostics. I'll let...
